Hmm, so my fiancee backed into my garage today. She tried to leave and the door wasn't open. Now my garage is 2/5 of the way open, off track, bottom part hanging, metal bent, etc. Oh, and her car is trapped inside as well. Anyone ever had to get work on their garage door and know a good company?
I like how the purpose of the thread is to figure out how to fix the garage, but you had to put "fiancee ruined it" in the title. maybe frustration coming out Sorry, it's a funny image of a car stuck in a garage door half open.. (pics?) But I haven't had to do that before. Sounds like a job a lot of regular handyman-types could do, if you're willing to go with a non-specialist for cheaper..
LOL, I laughed for a second. Sorry! I had broke the garage door by opening it without realizing it was locked. My guy didn't tell me. This company, Houston Overhead Garage Door Company, came to fix it on the same day. I'd rate them an A+. It wasn't that extensive like yours...my case was broken hinges or something.
Don't most people open the garage door before they leave? Did she not notice something was wrong when she got in the car and noticed her surroundings were really dark?
If someone runs through a closed garage door.. I don't think any amount of logical questions will get you the answer you're looking for. That is, unless a cell phone was involved..
Thanks. I called them and someone is coming out to look at it today. That's really great because I would prefer not to have my garage door wide open. However, based on my description the guy thinks I may have to replace the lower two panels, because the seam that holds them together is bent. I have pics but don't know how to load them. I'll post them if someone tells me how....
Good point. The door too. You wouldn't happen to have a pic of your facial expression when you first found out would you?
You might want to let your fiancee know that running the car with the garage door shut is not a good idea, either. Or maybe don't mention that to her...
Completely new door with installation will probably run around $750, depending on size. Sounds like you'll be more than half way there trying to fix what you've got, and it will probably never be the same if you try and repair it, if that's even possible.
Pics: And sorry, but I won't post pics of her...because if it costs too much and she "comes up missing" then I don't need internet witnesses.
