This will only interest the gaming guys here, but still: I don't know how it will turn out when released, but when looking at all the E3 stuff a lot of sites are saying this was the game of the whole show and nobody really knew about it. And it's a Nintendo DS game of all things. It's called Scribblenauts and you pass each level/objective...by typing in whatever you want to create. The game then gives it to you. I'm not kidding. I was reading some of the previews around and it sounds nuts Joystiq: Here's a video: Spoiler <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RTEUbtgpIgo&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RTEUbtgpIgo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> I hope this turns out great, because it sounds fun as hell.
If this turns out as impressive as it looks and sounds from those first hand impressions and video, I might have to go out and buy a used DS just to play it.
. Skip to 10:38 for more Scribblenauts footage... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xfmzGJA6FRw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xfmzGJA6FRw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> The list of "things" you can summon just seems too ridiculously expansive to be true...I'm blown away.
New video that gives more detail. http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/25149 Spoiler <object id="flashObj" width="486" height="412"><param name="movie" value="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/22881388001?isVid=1&publisherID=22717159001" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="flashVars" value="videoId=25741773001&playerID=22881388001&domain=embed&" /><param name="base" value="http://admin.brightcove.com" /><param name="seamlesstabbing" value="false" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="swLiveConnect" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/22881388001?isVid=1&publisherID=22717159001" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=25741773001&playerID=22881388001&domain=embed&" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" width="486" height="412" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" swLiveConnect="true" allowScriptAccess="always" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed></object>
Wow, add me to the list of people who may buy a DS just for this. Nintendo sure is doing a job bringing in audiences who don't traditionally play games. This is another big step in that direction.
i know someone working on it... and they literally have every object ever created already in the game.
I saw an interview where they said they basically went cover to cover in the dictionary and encyclopedia to find nouns.
