I know there are still some games left, but as this NBA season nears it's conclusion, it's fun to think about the great games this year. So, my question to you is, what was the best game you saw this year? Didn't necessarily have to be close, didn't have to be with the Rockets, or even playoff teams. Regular season or playoffs. Just what game did you enjoy watching the most-- the kind of game you'd give anything for a tape of? For me, the choice was pretty easy. I know the Rockets had some classics, but when I look back at this year, what can outdo the Mavs and Jazz in Game 5 at the Delta Center? Down 2-0 in the series, down 15 at the half, down 14 in the fourth quarter. Who could forget the Mavs storming back and the Jazz crumbling? The Nash threes from the corner, and the impossible shots from Finley falling with Bryon Russell right in his face. Or how about down 1, with your season on the line and 15 seconds left, Finley finding Calvin Booth for the 5 footer off glass? And then of course, the joyous sight of that Malone 20 footer at the buzzer clanking off the back rim, and the Mavs celebrating on the Jazz home floor. Awesome game. Honorable mention goes to the Rockets triple overtime win over the Pacers back in March. Anyone else with some classics from this year? ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Double overtime Blazers vs Clippers game Double overtime Bucks vs Bulls game and of course triple overtime Rockets vs Pacers ------------------
Don't forget the Philly blowout that included Francis breaking Lynch's ankles and Iverson's ribs with wicked crossovers. ------------------
Game 1 Orlando vs. Milwaukee Who can forget the emergence of not only Tracy McGrady but also Ray Allen as true superstars and clutch performers in the league. McGrady scored over 40 and Allen brought his team back from a five point deficit in the final minute to bring the game into overtime, where the Magic were able to gain a narrow victory and postpone their elimination by a few days. ------------------
I liked game 2 of the Laker-Spurs series, if you can call it a series. That game was awesome until the last 3 or 4 minutes of the game. I also liked the Clippers-Kings overtime game, and the Warriors-Knicks overtime game was pretty fun too even though it was the Warriors. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. I'm from Dallas, and I caught the end of the Rockets/Pacers 3 OT thriller on T.V., which was really exciting. One of the best games I've seen this season besides the Mavs' win in game 5 vs. Utah was when the Mavs came back from 8 points down with less than 1 minute remaining in regulation to tie it on a Michael Finley turnaround 35 foot 3 pointer, immediately following two Darrell Armstrong missed free throws. The Mavs won it in OT, a thrilling comeback.
Rockets win in Seattle, over Indiana, and in Portland! Clippers 2ot win over the Blazers, and the Celtics beating the Jazz despite a monster game from Greg "worst player in league" Ostertag! ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! 1st. triple overtime against Indiana. MOOOOOOOOOOCHE! 2nd. The Knicks game in Houston when Dream had a flash back in the second half and DOMINATED the Knicks. ------------------
Those two were great and I was at the second so those are up there, but another great one was when we beat S.A. here. We were down by like 20 and hadn't beat them in years. I was getting pissed and looked like the young guy on the reliant commercial only for Bull to ignite everyone else and bring us back in it to win it. That my friends was FRANTASTIC!!!! ------------------ I have seen much of the rest of the web. It is brutal and cruel and dark. CC.net is the light. That Knicks game in Houston was my personal favorite. But props do go out to the Mavs for eliminating the Jazz in the first round. ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
Two games stick out in my mind.... #1 - Game 3, Orlando vs Milwaukee. I was there and that was the best game I've ever been to. Watching the teams trade blows through 4 quarters and overtime, with the Magic getting the better of the Bucks, was classic. #2 - Orlando vs Philly, 2OT in Philly. Darrell Armstrong, one of the few players who can consistantly stop Allen Iverson, goes out and outperforms AI - and propels the Magic to victory over the Sixers in the middle of the season when the Sixers were hot. ------------------
1) Mavs vs. Knicks - 2OT. Mavs made two insane shots to extend the game into OT and into the 2OT 2) Rockets vs. Pacers - 3OT. 3) Rockets vs. Spurs - Rockets storm back from 20 down to take a good-sized lead. San Antonio fights back behind Duncan before Cuttino ices it. 4) Magic vs. Sixers - Iverson nails and improbable 3-pt play near the end of regulation to tie the game up, only to lose when McGrady drops this floater off the top of the backboard and in to win it. 5) Rockets vs. T'Wolves - Possibly Dreams last game as a Rocket. And we won in a blowout. All Rocket blowout wins are fine by me. ------------------ This space currently being renovated. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Rockets Pacers was the best game of the year in my mind . Some many times we should have lost and than in 3 OT it was all Moochie putting on a show. ------------------
The dueling 51-point games for Kobe and Antawn Jamison ... Warriors over Lakers in OT! But that was a great game, too. [This message has been edited by Swopa (edited May 30, 2001).]
Swopa, do you live in the Bay Area? I was at the Warriors-Knicks game, it was pretty insane, with Sprewell returning to the Bay Area and all. It is tough to see any Rockets games if at all over here. I lived in Houston for 12 years before I moved over here. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Yep, I'm in Oakland. Attended both the games I mentioned, along with about 20-25 others that ... ummm ... weren't quite as good.
Swopa, Did you go to the Warriors vs Blazers game at the end of the year? That was one of the worst beat downs I've ever seen in my life. The warrriors were massacred in that game, and it was the game where Bonzi got hurt. ------------------
hey, i was there too. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Man they picked me to death." -Steve Francis on the Utah Jazz
