In all fairness, I doubt the person who gave the false story to police intended for anyone to be shot.

Of course not, but that's what manslaughter is for. Also filing a false report and the resources to deploy SWAT. I hope he enjoys 10+ years in prison.

These are the type of cases where an example should be made of from all the dumb asses involved. That way in the future people can hopefully think twice before acting a fool online.

I guess I have to re-think this year's April Fool's prank on my mother.

Yep, manslaughter charges should be filed.

Kind of like the kids that throw the rocks or sandbags off the overpass as a prank, kill the driver and get charged with murder.

For everyone action, there's a potential consequence.

What about the person giving the address of the one who was killed? Can he/she be charged as well?

Also why did the officer shoot?

Isn't there safeguards to prevent false claims from escalating to this point? This sort of trolling has existed before, enough to the point where it had reached parody and a twitch streamer faked a raid on his channel.

The person giving the fake address has no responsibility to me. I could tell some random that I live at 12345 Makebelieve Road. It's the person who called in the threat that should be charged.

There also should be an investigation into why the police shot him. I get that they're under the impression that they're dealing with an armed murderer, but I feel like the threshold for pulling the trigger is too low. Cops have to see a weapon drawn before they open fire.

I agree. Crazy that cops pulled the trigger without knowing anything. The guy that reported this deserves something as well.

Okay so I found the Twitter of the kid who swatted the house that got this innocent father killed. Wow. Apparently he has bragged multiple times in the past about swatting people and has called in fake bomb threats as well. He has taken zero responsibility and has shown no remorse over the man he got killed.

Apparently I cannot embed more than 5 tweets at a time. If you go through his Twitter page he has bragged about swatting other innocent people numerous times and has called in fake bomb threats on at least 3 different occasions. The judge needs to throw the book at this kid. He's a clear danger to society.

This is his other profile. Wow.

Still not cool with cops knocking on a door, then shooting the unarmed person who opened it.

    Didn't @DaDakota get swatted?

They just released the 911 call and body cam video. The videos will make you rage.

The swatter is a psychopathic POS. Upgrade his charge to murder. The police officer who fired is a POS and deserves a murder charge, too. Police were 100 feet away behind vehicles for cover, and the officer fired on him for standing on his porch. Clearly shoot first, ask questions later. There's no defense of "I couldn't see his hands" or "he looked like he was reaching for a weapon" when you're set up behind cover 100 feet away. Even if he did draw a weapon, there is no way he will fire off any accurate shot at that distance, so you have to hold your fire until a weapon is pointed and clear as day.

    Absolutely ridiculous.

And that is why you never open the door for them, never ever ever ever ever. It's your right to NOT open the door...

They absolutely need to make an example out of this lower than low life POS. Make the case that you will be found and you will go to federal-pound-you-in-the-ass prison for a very long time.

To add to it, he shows no remorse and isn't in anyway denying he made the call. He's apparently done it before and clearly will do it again. Put his ass away before he gets someone else killed.

Is this officer still on the job? He flat out murdered an unarmed innocent person who simply walked out of the door.
