holy ****, did anyone catch Texas Tech? In all the football I watched today, I totally missed Kingsbury and the gang's 52-38 win over Mizzou. for those that missed it, here's Kingsbury's line of the night: 50-71 for 531 yards and 5 TDs 71 pass attempts? Are you freakin' kidding me? Their top rusher had a mere 8 attempts!!! When you're that one sided, why wouldn't a defense just rush three on every down and send the other 8 into zone coverage?
WOW shows how much confidence they have in their RB......maybe they are just trying to get Kliff the Heisman
Well, to a lesser extent, that's what the Aggies did, and he still picked them apart. In my opinion, the best thing to do is send players every down and put as much pressure on him as possible. If he has time, the number of guys in zone coverage isn't going to matter, he's too good. Eventually somebody will pop open and he'll find him. Seriously though, is Kingsbury the most underrated player in college football? Is he getting ANY Heisman consideration?
but how many coaches have the confidence in their qb to GIVE them 71 attempts? or conversely, have a lack of confidence in their running attack!
Did you see they held Brad Smith to only 18 rushing yards? That's crazy.... He had a nice little line himself though: 21-32 for 306 yards
man i'm having a touch time getting into the Notre Dame game. I think I may have OD'd on football today...
First of all, how many quarterbacks can even throw 71 attempts, second, how many can complete 50 of those 71 passes, and third, how many QB's can throw that many passes without throwing an interception. His overall numbers are better than any other quarterbacks out there right now. Granted, he's throwing a lot of passes, but out of the top 50 rated QBs in college he has the 3rd best completion percentage (67.9%), the most yards by 400, and the most TDs thrown by 8. If he keeps this up through the season, how can he not get serious consideration?
I am too, a little bit... that Texas game took a lot out of me. Why do we have to make it so close. BTW, duke, did you see the game? The reason I ask is that I doubt you'd be insulting Chris if you saw that throw he made with a couple of minutes left. If you missed it, watch sportscenter... fantastic.
I am not insulting him......just saying he could get 500 yards on 71 attempts. Especially against Mizzou, since they're not ranked in the top 10......
He's a product of a system designed to produce big numbers and he doesn't produce against the best opponents he plays. Ohio State made Tech's offense look like **** until the fourth quarter, when Tech scored two late TDs against Ohio State's second-stringers. Kingsberry has to produce against Oklahoma or Texas to deserve serious consideration. Willie Totten didn't win a ****in' Heisman either.
TD Notre Dame! Even though it would help UT if ND lost, I can't root against Willingham. He's just done a spectacular job with the team.
I am happy that UT won, but I am more then ever convinced that Simms is not a great QB. He made a good throw to BJ, and made a good decision, but the guy has absolutly zero balance. He falls down if someone breathes on him. He is fantastic if he is able to stand untouched and throw, but cause him to move...even an inch, and he falls apart like cheap cornbread. I think Simms is an ok QB, but don't think UT will win squat until Vincent Young gets in there. DD
Wow... Simms puts the team on his back against a good team and a hostile environment, comes out with a win, and people are still criticizing him. Unreal. In case you haven't noticed, Roberson "lost his balance" several times too. The announcers discussed this during the game... whatever the turf is at Wagner Field has been doing this to a lot of players. Also, on the two occasions that he did slip down, he would've been sacked seconds later anyway. Also, dadakota, I would say they were a lot more than breathing on him when he threw that 3rd and 11 pass while getting crushed. It was right on the money, with the season on the line, and we win. UT's offensive problems have virtually nothing to do with the quarterback... it's a shame that it'll take until Vincent Young's first loss for people to realize this. Of course, I suppose there's also the possibility that people will go after Vincent the way they did Simms, instead of finally realizing the ridiculous system they play in.
Like I said, if he can keep it up at a relatively consistent pace I think he should at least be getting consideration...not win it. And yes, Tech has yet to play their toughest games. A&M's defense was rated pretty highly before the Tech game. In fact, many publications rated the Aggies secondary among the five best in the nation. He picked them apart like they were nothing at Kyle Field.
