I read/heard somewhere that there is a game hookup where, if I hook up a certain type of adaptor/game to my TV....and a friend hooks it up in his home, that we can play against each other. I'm not sure of the game I need or the hookup I will need but I want to get it for my son to play games with his friends from NJ. Is there such a product? If so, what is it? Any help would be appreciated.
Well X-Box, you can get Live and then play the Live enabled games (it'll say if it is or not on the game box) over the internet with anyone, including friends in New Jersey. I think Live only supports broadband. PS2 you can pick up a Network Adapter for $40 (I think it's included with system bundles now if you haven't bought a PS2 yet), and then the games that are labled "Online" on the cover can be played with people using Dial-Up (including AOL I think) or Broadband. As for Gamecube, no luck there, no online play.
Thanks Danzel.....so if I get one of those systems, I can play head to head with someone in their home using the TV correct? I dont have to use the computer right?
Nah, no computer needed, just make sure the other person you want to play with also has the same equipment as you (same system, and the online periphreals) .
I've never understood why anyone would want to play a game "online"? I guess I'm just an old fuddy-duddy.
Its complicated for GC. Theirs only one or two games and im sure the hardware is really hard to find.
With my PS2 I play my college buddies (one in NYC, one in ATL, and one in Denver) in Madden 2004. So much fun.
