The Price of a GameCube is like $125 at Game over, and some of the games are hundreds of dollars.

    Crazy how nostalgia works.

Old Nintendo games have been going through the roof for a few years. There are a few games going for thousands out there.

Yea it's always been like that with Nintendo due to them often only producing a small amount of games and having almost zero digital availability.
Especially obscure 3rd party games or jrpgs, but also older Pokémon games for example are hard to attain now.

Nice, but as a collector - I like the originals. I have found some great places to source some of the items at below costs, and sell them to local used game stores.

But like games like Windwaker are going for $90....now......when they were $50 new.

Why would anyone buy a gamecube? Can't you just buy a used Nintendo Wii and get full backwards compatibility?

I have that too, but I collect consoles and games etc....the gamecube is one of my favs and the fact that the games worked on the original Wii- probably makes the games worth more.

Kids are always fascinated with their parent’s generation and drive nostalgia sales.

They also say that music sounds better on cassette tapes, collect VHS movies and watch them on 4x3 tube televisions.

It cost $199 when it came out. New, I'll give you that. $335 adjusted for 2022 inflation.

I’ve been selling my GameCube games over the last month. I got $300 for Fire Emblem.

GameCube is a nice system for mods. I have a GC Loader installed in mine. Replaces the optical drive with an SD card slot. Also have a nice HDMI adapter for it. Going to install a Blue Retro board that will let me use Xbox or PlayStation wireless controllers when it’s released later this year.

Do you follow the game trade/sales market any? Are prices dropping on older games? I'm just curious because of other collectibles I follow. Post-COVID free money era, a lot of collectibles, stocks, and stuff like NFTs have been dropping like bricks in value. In many cases, they were inflated beyond reason to begin with thanks to the free money.

Don't laugh, and I'm no expert, but there are some old versions of that game going for a few hundred dollars out there. lol

Old video games have been hot for a while now. You can even take out the graded sealed games market, which may or may not be a scam, and games are still pretty hot. It is also one of the few things that you can still find in the wild from time to time at things like garage sales.

Game Cube games are particularly valuable due to their lower volume of games printed as well as the fact there are some amazing games.

I also like that in often cases, you can choose the price point you want to collect at. These are made up numbers but let's say you love The Legend of Zelda and you want an original Nintendo cartridge, the pricing might look like this:

    • Beat up but working cartridge: $20
    • Really nice cartridge: $50
    • Cart with manual: $100
    • Cart with map, manual and paperwork: $150
    • Complete with box, opened: $300
    • Sealed: $2,000
    • Sealed graded high: $20,000
So you can choose the level of collecting you want. Game Cube games are discs and most people usually kept the box with them, so more collectors are going to want the disc, manual and box since most people kept them together.

Another thing to watch out for: Wii U games are starting to increase in value because they tend to have even lower production numbers than Game Cube or Wii. The Consoles can also sell for a pretty penny. I think its the next system to see a big ramp in values.
