World Series Edition: All game talk goes in here. Please do not give play by play. If you need play by play go to CBS, ESPN, or Yahoo. Saturday 10-22 @ 7:05 p.m. Probable Pitchers: Andy Pettitte vs. Mark Buehrle
Pettitte shows us his playoff mettle the stros win. Lidge comes in to pick up the save. Astros - 6 Sox - 3 We head to Houston tied at one.
First game jitters are out of the way now and Andy will be on tonight. I think last night showed that we can still stay with them when things aren't going right for us. This looks like it could be a long series. In another close game Astros prevail 5-4 BTW is it just me or do the White Sox win the prize for the "All Ugly" team?
I like Pettitte going in game two. He was kinda roughed up in the NLCS, but he is a big game pitcher. Look at what he did with the Yankees. When the Yankees lost game one of a series, Pettitte would come back with a win in game two.
Anybody else get the feeling..especially through the first few innings of game one..that the Astros were simply "feeling" things out. I noticed it especially when Biggio came up in the 1st. He seemed a little slow getting in the box and did a lot of looking around. And I remember one pitch he wasn't even set by the time the pitch was thrown. It just seemed the whole team was getting their handle on the situation and the team they were playing. And despite all the things that went wrong (a couple of defense miscues, Roger leaving early,a Rookie pitcher trying to be the bridge to the pen, RISP LOB), this team still almost pulled out the victory. If Pettie turns in a solid performance for us, then I really like the team's chances tonight. They'll be settled in, hopefully they'll have learned from some of the mistakes from last night, they always have bounced back after a loss this postseason, and if its close in any way (hopefully with us on top) you can bet Garner will be going to Qualls, Wheeler and Lidge (especially with the day off tomorrow).
I am prepared and you can be too. Last night I was dissatisfied with the my Good Luck UT hat. I still think my Baseball Playoff Beard is working fine but the UT hat was ineffective. So I have taken drastic measures. i made a voodoo doll. And you can, too.First, here is what you will need. A dirty old sock. A box of tissues. A baseball that is in horrible shape.(I let my Golden Retriever play with this one for about an hour). A little black rubber band. A sharpie Permanent Marker. Next you stuff the baseball in the sock and draw a Jack face on it with the lips sewn shut. Use the rubber band to seal the baseball in as the head. Now you stuff it with the tissues and cut the ribbed portion of the sock off. Cut that in half and sew it inside-out and then turn it inside out for the legs. Stuff them with tissue and then sew them on. Now your voodoo is complete. You will notice that this doll has no arms. That is to hurt the left and right-handed pitchers of the White Sox. Notice that the doll is made out of a dirty White Sock. That is to signify the fact that the White Sox are dirty bastards. I used 6 tissues in one leg and 7 in the other. This is to leave the Sox unbalanced. This better work. Here we go.
man i' usually always want Houston teams to win ....but for some reason i'm routing for the chi sox... i think they have a better hitting club...and with Roger out you guys are in TROUBLE! (pitching was supposed to be your advantage)...only game you guys will win is when Oswalt pitches… too bad Chance that doll ain’t gonna help you....nothing can
Well St. Louis was a better hitting ballclub than Chicago, and we beat the Cardinals in 6 games (could've been 5). Come to think of it, every team we've face in the postseason has been a better hitting club than us. And you know what, Clemens hasn't been his dominant self and we've gotten by just fine. And you know what, we still have Oswalt, Pettite, Backe (at home), Qualls, Wheeler and Lidge. Oh and also, St. Louis had one of the best hitters in mlb that flexed his ability to literally change a game. Oh and also, defense wins championships, and we had fewer errors and better starting pitching and a better bullpen. So the Sox don't scare me...just dilluded Sox fans
