I'm wondering if anyone has tapes of the San Antonio series when Hakeem destroyed David Robinson???? I willing to pay good money to anyone who can help me
I don't know if there are tapes of Olajuwon dominating Robinson. But there is a video containing highlights of the Dream dominating DR. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hW4uXlRGAF0
I sent you a message. I have all the original VHS tapes I made of this series. I've been trying to convert them to DVD so once I figure that out, these tapes could possibly be available.
Nice vid. I liked the part when Dream was driving by DR, then he was cut off be a second defender, so he spin turned and made a jump shot. Nice. That's one part in Yao's game that he lacks, the face up drive.
I posted to Uprising a couple of months ago that I would start doing this with my old VHS tapes (i have literally hundreds of games from the late 80s to mid 90s) and starting converting them to DVD. Most are Rockets games, also have some vintage Jordan, Magic, Wilkins, etc. Unfortunately, I'm a novice at figuring out how to capture the video to DVD, specifically fitting 1 game per disc. I want to use the highest settings but unfortunately, the games exceed the standard DVD capacity. I'll need to do further research to figure this out. Any ideas are welcome. My time is limited due to current job so anything that doesn't require me to stand at the computer during an entire capture process is what i need.
I'm in the process of capturing San Antonio Houston Game 1 right now. I just hope my computer doesn't crash! Next issue will be to figure out how to get this to DVD. If this all works, then I'll start the other games.
Do you have a video capture card for your computer? Personally, I would video capture to MPEG 4 format. At 720 x 480, the file would probably be about 5 or 6 gigs (too big for DVD.) I use a program called DVD Santa that converts .mpeg to DVD (.vob, .bup, ect.) It compresses the video to about 4.35 gigs, perfect size for burning... or you can specify the dual layer dvd for the target size, that would be about 9 gigs. There are a lot of other similar programs. Rockets2K has a more lengthy process for better quality. I believe he captures in HD. You may want to contact him about caturing the games. He can also start up the torrents.
Well I was able to successfully capture the 1st game. I split by 1st half and 2d half eliminating the halftime commercials. But if i burn it to DVD, it will be about 8.8GB and I don't want to put 1 half per DVD. I'll search the site to see if R2K has posted any instructions on how to compress this to a standard 4.7GB DVD without losing the quality.
Gig em I would say, don't capture directly to DVD format. Capture to Mpeg or avi and then use software (ie DVD Santa) to get it to DVD. It will compress it to DVD size and retain as much quality as possible.
No...I never have becaue it is quite the process where are you at? CS? doing them to dvd is great for archival pruposes...but it doesnt really help you get them out to your fellow fans. You need to do the process to convert them to xvid after editing...which is the process I referred to above. email me thru the board if you would like to consult on this...it isnt the kind of thing we shoudl do on the board...or if you want to catch me in person....fire up your irc chat program...and park yourself in #clutchfans till I check in.(or you can go to #houstonrockets and subject yourself to the crazies in there till I check in.
the way I convert vhs games to dvd is the use of a dvd recorder with a hard drive, that way you can record them to the hard drive and edit out the commercials. for the majority of nba games, you can put one game on dvd, but if a game goes to 2 OTs for instance, might be better to put one game on two discs. r2k, I emailed you thru the board a few days ago.
lol damn, I really gotta check my email more often. Im about to head out to a family thing...Ill hit ya back later this evening.
