played the demo, liked it but not sure if it's a must buy for me i liked ninja gaiden's fighting system more
My brother has pretty much been talking constantly about this game for the past year. They're good games to me, but hack and slash games just aren't really my thing. However, I must say that if there was a hack and slash game I was gonna play, it'd probably be this one.
That's the way I felt about the first two. I felt the third one made the combat much better and intuitive. With the different fighting styles and everything and context sensitive environment attacks, I felt that was one of the most challenging, fun games I ever played.
Most of my experience is with the first one, though I've watched a lot of the third one. The different fighting styles did seem like it could add a lot to the game. I played the demo for this one, and it seemed pretty cool. I think I may give it a try eventually when the price drops, or I may try picking up 3 for cheap.
I would definitely play through 3. There are about 4 or 5 levels that I would just constantly play because they were so radical.
I just may. Of course, it may be awhile... I've still barely touched Assassin's Creed, and I'm only a little ways into Burnout Paradise. Notwithstanding that I mean to finally finish Dark Cloud 2 after shelving it for about 4 years. I also mean to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3 eventually, as so many people suggested that one in a game thread I started a month or two ago. I'll add it to the list, though. Just out of curiosity... did you ever play either of the Berserk games? I still own the Dreamcast one, and I was briefly given the opportunity to play the PS2 version that was released only in Japan. Man do I wish they had released that in the US. They did a really good job of adding a feeling of weight to the sword; something the Dreamcast one failed at, even though it was a good game.
Another Dreamcast owner with Berserk: Guts Revenge. The last boss is extremely difficult. After you finish him you have to run out of this crazy maze. I kept dieing in the maze and could never finish the game. I'll probably hook up my good ol Dreamcast and fire up Berserk again. I am a huge fan of the manga/anime Berserk and I've been aching to finish the game for years.
You're talking about the Dreamcast one? Can't say I remember that bit at the end. I just remember killing the guy, and that was kinda it. Don't remember any maze. I do know I beat the hell out of the Dreamcast one and got all the unlocks and infinite ammo and whatnot. Was there some hidden difficulty level I missed or something?
Yea, the Dreamcast version. Maybe it's the maze before you fight the final boss, my memory is hazy. I think I finished the game in easy and normal but couldn't beat hard. Hard unlocks infinite ammo. There is a company that stills sell new Dreamcasts. I'm purchasing another one and will add this new/sealed one to my collection.
I really like the DMC series. I think it was the 2nd one that kind of had me disappointed, but besides that, I love the games. I can't wait for this one. I stayed away from the demo, but did watch the trailer that was on xbox live a little while back. I'm very excited to play this game.
How is the used game market for PS3's -- 60+ for a game is too much unless it's Grand Theft Auto or something amazing.
GH games only have to be out for about 9 months old IIRC. There is also a sales requirement, although I don't think it is too restrictive (especially if it is worldwide shipped numbers). Resistance and MotorStorm would be the only games off the top of my head that would apply. They may launch the program with those games, although I could see them waiting until the Summer or Fall so that they could include Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and R&C (maybe some others too?). They usually announce several games at once whenever they become GH IIRC. Keep in mind they probably wouldn't be $20. The first PS2 GH games were $25 IIRC, so I'd guess these would be $30 or maybe even a little more. Unless Sony is just feeling generous or something...
Yeah, Resistance was the only game that really leapt to mind for me. I'm sure they'll start with it eventually, but like you say, they won't be $20. $30 would be my guess. And I'm sure they'll wait awhile so they can launch GH with more than 1 or 2 games.
