GDC is going on this week. As usual, I wouldn't expect much, especially major news. Mostly just updates on new engines/technology, although some PR for games tends to happen. Cry Engine 3 for the 360/PS3: <embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='isStandAlone=true&highRes_ID=2793722&lowRes_ID=2793725&article_ID=965255&downloadURL=http://pcmovies.ign.com/pc/video/article/965/965172/cryengine3_trl_032309_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all%"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360'></embed> (horrible quality unfortunately) Max Payne 3 announced (made by Rockstar): http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=60990 A bit of info on the recently announced Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the PS3, plus a new IP: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22868 Some minor Sony stuff involving: 1) a new, "cheap" PS3 devkit, 2) some leftover Incognito (Warhawk) staff forming a new studio (LightBox Interactive), and 3) updates to their PHYREENGINE (as well as some games that use the engine). Basically developer conference stuff. And...I think that might be it for now. I think the major conferences are Wednesday and Thursday (Iwata and Kojima), so if anything major occurs, it might be then. I'll try to provide updates throughout the week as best as I can. BTW, I think G4 is covering the event. I think GTTV is having a big show at the end of the week too (Mafia 2, Mass Effect 2, and some other games I can't remember).
Online Coop for NG will be sick I still haven't finished my NGBlack on the original Xbox....stuck on the Emperor
What is the best car racing game for the PS3? I like arcade like (not simulation) controls and handling and real car models.
Probably Burnout Paradise. GRID, Pure, MotorStorm, and maybe Midnight Club: Los Angeles seem to be decent as well...although I'm not sure if they're all arcade-style (MotorStorm is, but not sure about the others). As I mentioned earlier, Iwata has his keynote today (I think 3 1/2 hours away). I think I read he will announce some new games, although I'm not sure if that is confirmed or just a rumor.
Don't you just hate it when Nintendo ... Anyways Yea have no interest in what Nintendo has to say.... Come on Sony!!!
The Nintendo/Iwata keynote isn't so bad... BTW, in case you guys haven't found a liveblog, here's one of many: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/gdc-satoru-iwata-keynote-soon-live-report
Looks like City of Metronome is still alive: http://www.primotechnology.com/2009...ronome-still-ticking-despite-a-troubled-past/ Of course...it isn't really alive (aka "in production") either...but at least it isn't dead. Really disappointed that it hasn't been picked up by a publisher in the last ~4 years.
That was to be expected though. No Sony keynotes, and while Ueda was there, he was only there to participate in a panel discussion. Although he did drop some hints about the game, and said it was better than he originally imagined. I might post some links to the talk later on, along with a few other tidbits (more Cry Engine 3). Geoff Keighley is hinting at some "major surprise" later today (multiplatform related). Guessing Modern Warfare 2 related, but who knows.
i meant Arcade style meaning not the super realistic setting games where if you turn to hard you flip and you can feel the roll of the body. I guess the modern simulation games have an arcade setting now. I just got burned on the very first Gran Turismo with it being so hard just to take a corner. Totally sucked compared to the need for speed series (yeah I am talking PS1)
Gran Turismo 5 prologue is pretty sweet, but I wish it had realistic crash damage. *edit* nevermind...I should read entire threads before posting.
Yeah I prefer non realistic crash damage. I never played anything past GT2. I thought about buying that game after I saw I could switch it to Arcade play, which is I guess similar to easy on a FPS game.
Yeah...sounds like Modern Warfare 2 (or whatever): http://twitter.com/geoffkeighley I might edit this post with a link if/when it goes online.
...OK, there's not really any point in posting the MW2 teaser here. 11/10/09. That's all you really gain from watching it. I'm a little behind on updates. I'll have to catch up over the next couple of days.
God of War 3 Gameplay from GDC Will probably get taken down soon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzHxCI1KaRg
Mighnight Club probably will fit what you are looking for. It is a open world map, arcade racer, real cars but honestly I thought the difficulty was too high. They have patched the game since launch to make it easier, but that crap is still hard. Complete with AI cheating. If you coax an opponent into crashing head on into a car, you can expect them to be right back on your ass in a few seconds. Burnout Paradise is an excellent arcade racer, outstanding graphics, 20 bucks and plenty of DLC for it. I can't comment on Grid, though it looks incredible. I jut haven't played it.
I am here working, lots of cool stuff to see but all pale in comparison to the Nintendo girls in the ngage booth- yikes. Btw I think our company is doing the max payne facial animation. DD
