Tonight hopefully the rockets can get an easy win that won't require OT or last second dramatics. With McDyess out of the game the rocks should roll over the Nuggets. If Francis can play better defense on Van Exel then he did against Marbury the Rockets will win by 10.
They "should" win this game by about 30 points, when you compare talent. However, this game has a lot of upset potential. The Rockets need to take care of business, and prepare for their next "should win" on Thursday. Rockets 108 Nuggets 88
in fact the opposite is true. if this game was played on paper, the game would be extremely close. could go either way. coaching wins this game for houston. rudy over issel, no doubt.
It's going to be a tough game we can't underestimate Denver. If the Rockets play solid defense and make their shots they should win.
One thing I will take away from this game: reversing my position on signing Mooch to such a big contract--I now realize it was absolutely imperative that we sign him back no matter the cost. I can't stop smiling...I thought his fro was big last year. Oh and Nugzfan...you might be right if McDyess was in the lineup...but without him the Nugs are pretty overmatched in talent.
Well, it was a good win, but it shouldn't have been so close in the end. The Nuggets are already a "should win", with or without McDyess. Without him, this should have been much easier. Still, all that counts is that they got the W. Great game from Steve, and the Rockets are 4-1. The Rockets should get up to 6-1 before the next loss.
Poor Cat's 3pt% is now back to normal levels... Wonder when TMo will get some playing time. I thought this game would be a good chance for him to debut.
Who cares about the details. An 80% track is a hard one to knock for a start. The Rockets beat another team tonight that they should beat in the regular season. All we can really ask for is wins like these and an occasional steal from a "better" team. It's called consistency, and I'm glad to see a Rockets team display a little bit of it (even if it is edge-of-the-seat consistency). That's all we can really ask for. A few more of these wins and ESPN will even mention the "C" word...
I'm sorry Nugzfan, but on paper the game wouldn't be close - Houston would win well! I know you love your Nuggets (can't say I blame you - admirable to see support for one's team, not a bandwagoner that's for sure), but with McDyess out the paper pile is pretty thin for the nuggets!
Because the bourbon drinker wanted to go small. I don't know why, but he felt the need to take Thomas,Cato, and Willis out and play slow ass walt and rice together tonight.
drnuegerbauer and prempeh (simlar comments) ; you guys are wrong. francis, mooch and mobley make your players better. talent wise they arent that great. guys like rice, cato, willis, williams, torres, etc. your guards make your teammates better and productive. im terms of pure talent even without dice we compare very well. its just we have a shoot first pg in nve and a coach who is a moron. all our players never get close to be utiltized well. its very frustrating.
What I second NugzFan, saying you guys are comparably talented once you throw out our guard play isn't saying much. Take away our guard play and we have the third or fourth least talented teams in the league. But you couple what we do get out of very modest group of forwards/centers, with the best guardplay in the league, then you have a well-above average team in terms of talent, skill or however you want to slice it. Hey Nugzfan, look on the bright side, NVE is terring it up and McDyess is only out of there temporarely (didn't leave as a FA or anything).
whoa whoa..dont get me wrong. you guys are good. i was explaining why IMO. think of it like this - lets say you had a team with the worst players on it and no strengths, yet were 10-2. would you be happy? of course! would you care how bad you looked if you won? no way. thats all im saying. you guys are good and get it done. and thats what counts. your guards are really good. ill take the W over stats anyday.
