Worst officiating ever The NBA uses techniques to marginalize referee criticism so they can keep the fix: "Only losers blame refs", massive fines to censor players/coaches/broadcasters, etc. Don't let these shady methods keep you silent about the plague that is NBA officiating.
Bad? Sure. Only thing that caused us to lose? No. We are 1-1 without homecourt advantage. It is looking good for us right now.
What was the betting line of this game? I'm pretty sure the final score was right on the money. That's the sick reality of how the NBA works.
All this whining about referees is ridiculous. We were the ones who had their bigs in foul trouble after all, not to mention all the freebies from driving.
it wasnt bad officiating in the sense that it was one sided, but it wasnt officiated the way a playoff game should be officiated.
It was bad on both ends the entire game. In the last 4 minutes I thought Portland got the benefit of the doubt on some iffy calls but the Rockets shot themselves in the foot by missing so many free throws and by Slick Rick by benching the best player the Rockets had tonight in Von Wafer. This game was very winnable for the Rockets. But that officiating was just horrible all night. Talk about taking the game away from the players. Joey Crawford is as bad as ever. He must have been thinking about Tim Duncan all night long.
stop whining. goodness. they were called for 26 fouls, us 28. we took 32 fts, they took 36. that's as fair as you can get on the road in a playoff game. we lost b/c we still can't do jack when yao is taken out of the game, which i'm sure nate will look to do every game now. unless it was as blatant as it was in the mavs series, don't jump the gun and blame the refs every damn time.
ROX hit just 60% of their FT's...they WIN! ROX went to the line more than the bad guys. i mean...admit it. The refs didnt lose this game.
Amen. They need to be held accountable. Allowing them to blatantly stack the deck against any team in the closing minutes of a game is unacceptable.
The refs were bad in making the game, an unwatchable foul fest but they called the game in OUR favor. The refs kept handing us free throws, and our players kept throwing it away. It's like they were allergic to getting free points from referees.
Just an all around BORING game to watch for the playoffs! No fluidness, just whistle after whistle. I love playoff time (usually) because they start calling games loosely - not tonight. BTW - I'm not whining, I would be posting this same thing if we won by 10. I cannot stand games like this. What a waste of a playoff intensity. It's obvious the Rockets are the better team in this series. Sometimes I think the league likes to drag these series out to make more revenue.
The calls went both ways, for the most part; we just didn't capitalize on the calls we got by sinking our free throws. It was called way too tightly for a playoff game, however.
Ref-Blames are for Lames... Seriously guys, it's beyond old.... I can't remember a single playoff game in the past 5 years that the Rockets lost and this whole board DIDNT start crying about the refs. We were laughing at the Blazers fans for blaming their loss on the refs, and yet we do the very same thing EVERY TIME. The fact is that every time an NBA team loses a playoff game, that team's fans doesn't like the way the refs called the game because the fans are over-emotional about every play, and when things go wrong, they look for something to blame. The game was NOT ON THE REFS!!!
There were some small issues with the refs, certainly not so much that warrants the massive amounts of crying that the board has been doing today. But I think everyone must admit Yao's fourth foul really hurt us and had huge implications as to the rest of the game. I don't want those kind of calls or the refs not punishing this flopping BS.
Can't blame the refs. We were up in the 4th quarter. We can't have Roy going for 42. That's inexcuseable.
I'm not saying the refs alone cost us this game, but there is a big difference between blaming the refs for a 30 point loss and blaming them for losing what was essentially a one possession game the entire way through.
I sense that this thread is not about this game (2). There is a greater discussion about the quality of refereeing... I think grading the refs has helped. As bad as it may after this loss, I think things have improved with replay and having a 3rd official, and the refs coming together to get a call right more often.
