Yeah, I know there's a GS game tomorrow, but I really am confident the Rockets will win that. I am more interested in the Phoenix game. Anyway, you all know I don't think the Rockets will make the playoffs. But as long as there is a chance, I will keep my hopes up. I'm still rooting for it to happen. Anyway, I thought I would give a few of my "keys to the game". Feel free to add to them. Players to watch out for (Rocket Killers). Tony Delk- I know his type. The pure shooter that will have his game on to face the Rockets. They can not forget about him. Rodney Rogers- His specialty is making three point dagger shots against the Rockets. They must not leave him open. Mario Ellie- Need I say more? Chris Dudley- If he plays, he could score a double-double against Houston. He's a bad player, but bad players thrive against Houston. 18-15 for Lorenzon Wright? Come on now! In other words: Guard the role players. They are the ones that burn the Rockets night in and night out. Guys like Delk just lick their chops at the thought of playing Houston. Don't ask me why. - Box out Marion. Just try to contain him. Don't let him get too many offensive boards. The Rockets as a team need to outrebound the Suns. They thrive when they get second chances. -Don't let Kidd get layups. Let him shoot his ugly J all night long. -Double Clifford Robinson. -Francis and Mobley need to both score well. They both must shoot over 50 percent. Francis should to try to get J-Kidd in foul trouble. -GET OFF TO A GOOD START! My gripe with Houston has been them falling behind early to bad teams. They've been able to come back against the Clips and Hawks, but the Suns are not going to blow another huge lead. Not after Wednesday. -Mo needs to have his midrange game going. Clanks from 20 aren't going to cut it. -Cato must rebound! Finally, they need to get an easy win over the Warriors. If they are forced to exert too much energy against Golden State, they will be very fatigued against the Suns. If the Rockets win easily over the Warriors, the starters will be able to sit out the fourth, and rest up. Here are my predictions: If the Rockets beat GS with ease: 89-81 Rockets If they struggle to beat GS: 100-87 Suns As far as I'm concerned, a weekend sweep would guarantee the playoffs. The Hakeem loss is a big blow, but I know the Rockets have it in them to win this weekend. I just wonder if the Rockets will be able to live up to their potential. The Suns game is a playoff game, lets see how they do. ------------------ I'm the most positive Rocket fan in the world.
Since we're only 2 1/2 games behind phoenix will we be 2 games behind them if we win, since they don't play tommorow? ------------------ [This message has been edited by Wakko67 (edited March 10, 2001).]
So if we beat GS and Phoenix, we'd be one game away from a playoff spot. Imagine that.... ------------------
ZRB, you definitely annoy the hell out of me. Your negativism is puzzling, and the title of your thread is "Game 1 of the playoffs" and yet, you stick by your old saying that the Rockets are not going to make it. Let´s see how long your newfound "optimism" will last. I see the future... i see the Rockets down by 10 at halftime and ZRB bashing them like there´s no tomorrow. ------------------ The Dream lives on! Honor spoke louder! Long live Hakeem!
Are you out of your mind? This is insane! First, a bad first half guarantees no playoffs, now winning two games guarantees the Rockets to be there? Just let things happen-- one weekend, one half, etc. does not make the playoffs. If we lose on Sunday we still have a shot. Do us all a favor and try to settle down a little bit... you go overboard on EVERYTHING man! ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. It's my fault... I clicked on it. But ZRB, you have manic depression. Go get Lithium and see how normal people live in an "even keel" sort of way. There aren't so many highs and lows. ------------------ git it tag, git it!
A bit on the sensitive side today, aren´t you? You are the sorriest excuse for a fan i´ve ever had the privilege to witness. And you can take your newfound hostility Mr. "isn´t a good argument what the board is all about" and shove it into whatever space left you may have in that sick (thick) mind of yours. Oh, and have a nice day. I know i will. And i do believe in the Rockets. That´s the sign of a TRUE fan, which you my "friend" surely are not. And yes, i will call you "shirley" as long as i please. Screw YOUR thread? Next thing you might wanna claim ownership of the site too. Just wondering what Clutch might think about that. Your behavior borders on insanity. get a life! One far removed from us, who happen to care and enjoy the growth of these kids, on which you don´t have any faith in. And don´t bother arguing because i´ll be off in the weekend and will only look at the site again on monday! Cheers! ------------------ The Dream lives on! Honor spoke louder! Long live Hakeem! If I'm so sorry, then stop wasting your time reading and posting in my threads. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Could someone explain to me what is wrong with this thread? I didn't say anything negative, I was just expressing my view of the Phoenix game, and then Thanos decides to f*ck it up. What is wrong with this? Can I post anything without being attacked? ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Well I thought I'd reply to this thread explaining why ppl don't like you zrb, I went through all of these threads looking for quotes and reasons. Then I realized what Achebe says is true, you're just making up these threads b/c you like the attention you're getting. Until now I thought you were a legitimate Rocket fan that just overreacted alot, but that's just bs. You're a troll! I'm no longer posting on ZRB's threads, and everyone else should do the same. ------------------ "If a traveler does not meet with one who is his better, or his equal, let him firmly keep to his solitary journey; there is no companionship with a fool." Attention? I don't do this for attention. I wrote this thread to read about other people's "keys to the game". I do have a life, and I do not really care what a few people half-way across the country think of me. It is very difficult to transmit my true personality over the internet, so stop assuming you know why I post. I started this thread because I wanted to have a discussion about the Phoenix game, nothing more. I have no desire to ingrain myself in your minds. This is a Rocket web forum, and all I want to do is discuss the Rockets. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm going to leave this particular forum alone for a while. All I ask is that you post replies relating to the topic, not other topics that have f*ck all to do with this one. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." -Anti-President Bush
I didn't see the big problem with this particular thread, there was a little bit of overreaction at the end, but its not too much. I think this is a case of the poster who cried "SUCK", you've earned a reputation as a Negative Nellie. ZRB makes some good points, except the Chris Dudley one, Dudley won't play - we get Iakvos Tskalidis. Big Jake has actually had some decent games lately, but he's slow-footed, so Cato's gonna have to make a lot of cuts to the rack to get some easy jams, cause Jake can't keep up with him. Elie will always play big against the Rockets, but does he have enough in his legs to keep up with Mobley? Cause if he doesn't there's no one on the interior to correct his mistakes. Delk will be key, he's quick and he has a deadly mid-range jumper. The Rockets will have to protect the ball, because the Suns offense almost depends on creating turnovers. They kill teams in the transition, but have an average, to below-average half court game. Steve and Cuttino can get to the rack at will against their defenders, they have to be aggressive offensively. Block out, Marion loves to crash the rack hard going after rebounds, they need to put a body on him. If the Rockets can sweep the two games this weekend, it will go a long way to getting them into the playoffs. Believe. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
The problem you have ZRB is your expectations for the team are WAY too high. Any team can trail by 10 to anyone on any night. Lottery teams, playoff teams, championship teams. And how exactly are the Suns that much undertalented than the Rockets. Kidd is close to Steve's level, Marion is probably above Cuttino's level, Tsaklidas is playing at Cato's level, Cliff Robinson is close to Mo Taylor's level, and their guys off the bench of Delk, Rogers, Googs, etc. are better than Mooch, Walt, KT. I just read in another thread that you expected us to be a top 5 seed before the season. If you really expected one of the youngest teams in the NBA with no experience, not great interior defense, and not phenomenally talented team to be a top 5 team then you really really don't know basketball. And if you think that going down 10 against any team means you arent playoff-quality, then again you really have no idea what you are talking about. Thanos is probably right-- you are one of the sorriest excuses for a fan I've ever come across. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. Earlier on, before the season started, I was mister-positive. I believed in the Rockets to an extent where I thought they could be real contenders in the west. I know some things about ball, but my love of the team pushed that to the side. Remember that six game losing streak? That crushed me to an extent where I have been fairly pessimistic ever since. Its clear that my expectations were too high. Honestly, Cat, I really am a fan. I wouldn't waste my time trying to acheive good standing on this board if I wasn't. Right now, my reputation is preventing me from having good discussions about the Rockets. I really only want to "talk Rocks", that's all. All I ask is that you respond to my topic, not my ever-sinking reputation. Thank you. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." -Anti-President Bush
Until you realized no one was paying attention to you. So you went the other direction. Look, you and I both know your reputation on this board is shot. If you really are this huge rocket fan who just wants to "talk Rocks", the answer is simple. Create a new user name. You get to talk about the team, and we don't have to listen to ZRB anymore. By staying on as ZRB, you prove our point: that you are doing this for attention, and not to discuss basketball. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
I became negative because the Rockets made me feel negative. I am not concerned with attention. If I have an opinion, I'm going to post it. I refuse to create a new username, just because someone like you keeps trying to bring me down. I am sick and tired of you spewing you insulting crap in every thread I post in, or create. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." -Anti-President Bush
I think you are the one that should be banned. I have never ripped into other posters like you have ripped into me, Behad. Why don't you change YOUR username. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." -Anti-President Bush
