Will JR Smith and Kenyon Martin be back with the Nuggets? If i were a fan i wouldnt want to see those two knuckleheads back and potentiallly ruin that team chemistry.
I'd say so. Carmelo's overrated. He's not in the same league as the superfriends. Gallinari actually plays two-way ball.
This is good for both sides. I find Galinari talented but a little shaky. If he has another gear that kicks in soon, Nuggets made a good deal.
I would rather pay Gallo $10M/yr than Melo $20M/yr. Melo is definitely overrated, and Gallo is only 23 with the possibility of outproducing his contract in another two years. Nuggets: 31-16 post Melo trade Knicks: 21-28 post Melo acquisition
Gallo is taller, younger, plays team ball, his teams winning and he's continuing to improve. His new contract extension of 4 years/ 42 million is a STEAL! Melo is older, selfish, has peaked and plays ball that isn't conducive to winning. His contract from 2006 was 5 years 80 million which is A LOT and just last year he signed an extension for 3 years 65 MILLION which is a TON. His contract is an albatross and NY will forever be ****ty because of Melo's contract. Melo might put up big numbers but he will never be the main leader that leads his team to anywhere. Think Glenn Robinson, Anotione Walker and Antawn Jamison. Don't let the name and hype fool you. Gallo is better than Anthony.
Until melo decides he wants to play with the guys on his team he's a wasted player. fool's gold. If george karl couldn't rein him in nobody is going to. melo is an ego-driven manic that doesn't care about anything but how and when he will get his next shot. im so glad that the superfans didn't win rings last year and i'm glad that teams like utah and denver are flourishing while nj and ny are floundering for the same reason.
But you need a STAR to win a championship! -all the Clutchfans who wanted to trade a king's ransom for Anthony
Not in terms of talent. But in terms of contract and winning basketball, Gallinari is the better choice. Melo is extremely talented but he doesn't play D and he doesn't have a 3 pt shot. That means you'll have to tailor your offense specifically for him, you'll want 4 other guys who do nothing but play D and shoot accurate 3 pts, and your offense will be nothing but let Melo isolate for 29 secs and then kick out the ball when he wants to. OTH, Gallo has less talent but he plays two-way ball, he's younger, cheaper, and he can hit 3s at a great clip as well as make good plays for his team. Basically if you want to sell jerseys and pay 20M a year to a punk, get Melo. If you actually care about winning games, get Gallo.
