Would he be able to solve our problems at SF or will we have to give up a lot to get him? Sportstalk reported that he is on the trading block. ------------------
I can't tell you how I heard about the following rumor, but check out this trade- 3 team trade with Houston, Atlanta, Milwaukee. Houston gets- Glenn Robinson, Earvin Johnson Atlanta gets- Jason Caffey, Kelvin Cato, Bryce Drew, Carlos Rogers, 1st round draft pick from Houston Milwaukee gets- Dikembe Mutumbo, Walt Williams TRADE ACCEPTED There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to houston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. houston had to be within 15% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining agreement. Due to atlanta being below the salary cap by more than the total of their exemptions after this trade, they lost exemptions to the value of $1,200,000. To see exactly what exemptions atlanta lost, please check the check a cap page on Real General Manager, Inc. milwaukee had to use a portion of their trade exemption of $2,038,728 for this trade to go through. ------------------ [This message has been edited by TB3 (edited September 20, 2000).] [This message has been edited by TB3 (edited September 20, 2000).] [This message has been edited by TB3 (edited September 20, 2000).]
atlanta trades: Dikembe Mutombo $14,100,000 to milwaukee TOTAL: $14,100,000 houston trades: Kelvin Cato $5,333,333 to atlanta houston trades: Bryce Drew $1,182,600 to atlanta houston trades: Carlos Rogers $2,200,000 to atlanta TOTAL: $8,715,933 milwaukee trades: Jason Caffey $4,375,000 to atlanta milwaukee trades: Ervin Johnson $2,700,000 to houston milwaukee trades: Glenn Robinson $8,120,000 to houston TOTAL: $15,195,000 TRADE DECLINED There were BYC players involved in this trade, so this trade is subject to the BYC provisions of the CBA. Due to atlanta, houston and milwaukee being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. atlanta, houston and milwaukee had to be within 15% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only atlanta and milwaukee met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining agreement. RealGM is a beautiful thing. ------------------
I love this trade idea! Does anyone have Rudy's phone number? Next year, after Webber decides to be a Rocket, our lineup will be- Center- Johnson, Collier, PF- Webber, Taylor SF- Robinson, Langhi SG- SA, Cat PG- Franchise, Norris add a couple of veteran tough guys to this mix, and I think the Rockets could contend. ------------------
TB3, ReamGM works to help create new "anonymous rumors" as well as debunk them, doesn't it? Add WW and the deal does go through. Did you just forget to include him before? ------------------
The hell with next year. I'll be floating in the Buffalo Bayou by then...and screw Webber, and the Big dog...Training camp is two weeks away and i'm ready to go to war right now with this team. ------------------
Sam, I did forget him the first time. I would pull off this trade in a second. We could get an all-star sf, and a good defensive center. Milwaukee would do this deal because they could start Walt at SF, move Thomas to the Pf, and put Dikembe in the middle. Cassell, Allen, Williams, Thomas, and Mutumbo would challenge for the Eastern title, imo. Atlanta, worried about losing Mutumbo for nothing next year, might make this trade. Atlanta has a hard time drawing free agent, and getting Cato, Rogers, and Caffey might be the best Atlanta can hope for. Now, I will go back to my day job. ------------------
To comment on the rumor itself (if we're just dreamcasting here) I LOVE it from Milwaukee's point of view (pick up a great center, and a decent SF, for a pretty good center and a middle-of-the-road PF). Atl doesn't do too badly (gets a young center, a first round pick, and filler) but I would think they could get more for Mt. Mutombo, from Portland or another team desperate for a Shaq-stopper (not that there is such a thing). From the Rockets' point of view, the deal is questionable. E Johnson is older, but a better rebounder than Cato and a solid defender. But he's got the same offensive problems, and I don't know how well he would run the floor with our young guys. Robinson is a definite improvement over Williams, and is younger. But we lose Rogers and Drew, and more importantly lose the cap space we would get when Rogers becomes a FA next offseason, along with losing a draft pick. Would we even have enough money left to sign CWebb at that point? And would he want to come here when we've got 3 premiere scorers already in Francis, Big Dog, and Cat? ------------------

There are four kindss of lies: lies, damned lies, statistics, and TRADE RUMORS. (apologies to Mark Twain) ------------------
give me Big Dog, without giving up Cato, and we have ourselves and very good team, maybe we can give the bucks Collier back (still don't understand that trade) plus Walt, Drew, Rodgers, Bull, Pig and Mooch. ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
lol@Smegg!!!!!! Firstly teams want players who actually are good not scrubs. Secondly I don't think they would even bother to make us sign and trade Pig cause he's a free agent and thirdly you never seem to spell "Rogers" properly in your reply's and threads! But good effort, I suppose to try and keep Cato in that deal! ------------------ Miggidy Markell says: 1. Eastcoast is da sh*t 2. Rockets rule 3. Hip/Hop is dope 4. Buy the new Ruff Ryders album! Atlanta isn't budging on Mutombo. There are numerous teams that have tried to pry Dikembe from their lineup, but the Hawks aren't even listening. As for G-Rob, I'd LOVE to have the guy, but can't see the Bucks letting him go either. IMO, this whole deal is bogus. ------------------ I am the founding member of the Butt-Nekkid Party! Time for a reality check. With no disrespect to DrN, I'd like to see a reputable source put Wiz, 'Los, and Bryce in a trade rumor for Robinson. Just because it works in RealGM it is not RealLife. Here are some other scenarios. Most of which are at least as plausible as our trio for Big Dog: Stoudamire, Wells, & Augmon for BDog & Cassell Rick Fox & Horry for Big Dog Mutombo to Bucks, Googs & Shawn Marion to Hawks, and Earvin Johnson to Hawks and BDog to PHX. Geiger to PHX, Googs to Bucks, and BDog to Sixers And let's not forget the Mavs who love to deal- Shawn Bradley & Hubert Davis & 1st rounder for BDog All of these make as much sense as package which includes two Rocks who are 3 string or IR on the depth charts. My point is this - the average poster on his BBS is insightful and intelligent, but assuming the Rocks want/need Glenn Robinson the players we are listing to obtain him would be laughable from Milwaukee's perspective. IMHO Cato would have to be included in any offer which gets the Bucks' attention. We are talking about a guy who started 81 games and avg'd 20.9 ppg, 6 boards, 2.4 assists, .5 blocks, shoots 80% from the line and 36.3% from the arc and we think 'Los and Bryce will be interesting as trade bait? ------------------ Is it Preseason yet ??!! But on the other hand if we get Robinson he would mess up Little Stevie's stats. Francis would only average about 15 a game with Taylor,Robinson, and Mobley to please.
I really don't care how many points stevie scores as long as we win a championship. For that matter, I don't think stevie would care either. ------------------
