I was just wondering if anyone has picked G. Green? If not does anyone think he'll be back next year in a rockets uniform?

Theres an article I read somewhere saying non of the teams that have had him on there roster were impressed. Doc Rivers answered a couple of questions.

Probably will be on our summer league but I doubt we will have space on the 15 man roster.

He could possibly get a shot on our summer league team, I think. He's going to have to earn a spot on an NBA team in training camp. From what I've heard, he may not have the resolve and work ethic needed to make himself worth signing.

That sounds like Tmac, when he was that age.

Gerald Green is 22. When T-Mac was that age, he was averaging 26 ppg and carrying his team to the playoffs. A little different.

Except that Tmac was never cut from any NBA team, and after his rookie contract was up he signed a max contract.

Well, it sounds like T-Mac when he was a rookie. :) To the posters in the Trade T-Mac threads, T-mac is still that way. We know better. It's not true.

Do you guys remember, it was probably his last season in Toronto, when McGrady's reputation was that he was a good defensive player because he averaged over a block a game?

Once again i'm not going to let you go there, as a rookie Tmac played 18 minutes a game got 1 steal 1 block 4 rebounds 7 points and an assist per game. A far better rookie season than Carl Landry is having for us.

If you were to compare both their second seasons since that is where they are the most statistically similar you can see the problem is that Tmac was able to continue to improve Green has stayed static.

    ____________McGrady______________Green
    Minutes...........22.6............................22.0
    Points.............9.3..............................10.4
    Assists.............2.3..............................1.0
    Rebounds.........5.6..............................2.5
    Steals...............1.1..............................0.5
    Blocks..............1.3..............................0.3

you can see even at this point Tmac is superior to Green at this point and kept growing. Green feel off the trajectory this year, i would have suspected he could have been at least as productive as a J.R. Smith in Denver but for whatever reason green has not put it together. He is still young enough to put it all together but every year that passes the chances he will go down as well as his overall ceiling.

Wow. This stat is rather interesting... This makes me wonder about the possibilities.

However, I still think he has a rather bad attitude. I've heard numerous stories about this guy, and none of them have been good. I'm sure Tracy was immature then when he started out in Toronto, but I doubt he was as bad as Green.

Green need more skills than just dunking and leaping. If you look @ Vince Carter, he had the hops and dunks but also had the 3point game, mid range.. where's Green? Celtics, Wolves, Rockets.. who got next?

he'll probably end up in phx or gsw..... where defense is not a priority and shot selection is never bad

I think the fact that Smush Parker can find a team that wants him and Gerald Green can't speaks volumes.

Green has a good shot. If you actually seen him play, he has a very nice form. The main thing that he lacks is probably high basketball IQ. He's not a headcase or a chemistry killer like everyone wants to say.

Green needs a committment to being an NBA player.

This is either a wake up call, or not, it is all up to him.

It wasnt because he avg 1blk per game, it was because he was long, quick, with great instincts. It was also a time when that was the only way he could get on the floor. Go ask Allen Houston and Dirk how good a defender tracy is when he's totally focused on stopping someone. Thats why sometimes i cringe when people talk about tracy not doing this or that. Against Dallas in the playoffs he had to guard the other teams top offensive player out of position, shot him down and still be the number 1 option on his team. There isnt alot of players in this league that can do that.
