http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/blackwhite/main.html Anybody going to watch this show? It looks really interesting. Kind of like a reality version of "Black Like Me". (or I guess Eddie Murphy's "White Like Me" spoof) Looks awesome to me.
I was watching Cops on the same channel before it and left it on in the background. It seems to be pretty interesting so far. The black chick turned "white" doesn't look very white to me. I think it's easier to turn a white person black than vice versa in terms of color.
I was going to say the same thing. The white people turned black are pretty believable. (at least in appearance) Not so much the other way around.
Could they not have picked two better men to lay the men? I mean both of them just have very warped ideas about race, it was pitiful. I didn't get to see a lot of the women. The kids seemed ok and they were not as concentrated on race as the others.
I just finished watching it on the Tivo. They picked men who both feel they are right and the other is ignorant for seeing what they see. The white guy definetly has a warped view on racism though. To me it seems that they both make strong points, it is just a matter of perspective. The white woman is completely lost but she seems to keep her mouth shut more than the white man (only first episode though). The black kid doesnt care (although I would be bored at etiquette lessons) and the white girl seems to be the most tuned in and communicates the easiest. It was pretty funny watching her react to her parent's being stupid.
lol that's a ****ty job of converting the black family to white now the white family actually passes for black
I actually thought the best transformation (visually) was the black father. The other two black people didn't turn out so well. The white father looks more like a really dark Indian or something (not black) while the other two white people turned out a lot better. They all are acting really goofy though. If the experiment is to see how you are treated based on your skin color, regardless of behavior, then why not have them act as they normally do, instead of trying to imitate the other people. In other words, if you look like a white guy, but in every other way act as a black guy, how would people treat you, and the same for the white guy that looks black. Otherwise, it only seems like an experiment for the benefit of the people undergoing it (a kind of a "look how you would be treated if you were me" thing), maybe that's just me. The way it is now, the people are going to be judged on their behavior when they are trying to act like a stereotype.
I agree the Black Father looks 100% different and white The White Daughter i think has the best transformation on that side The black son seems . . kind of dense. the black mother. . .she did not look white to me The white parents looked. . . .odd. .. as well Rocket River
Is there something wrong with me if I thought the white daughter was average looking until she "became" black and then I kept thinking "damn, she looks good"? Black father was believable. Black mother looked mixed or albino or something. I agree the white father looked more North African or something like that but it doesn't matter because he still looks ethnic and has dark skin. A few general thoughts: So the white father has black friends but the mother knows nothing at all about black people and thus says stupid things? I don't get that. I wish they had tried to evenly match the families. The black ones live in a very diverse neighborhood. The whites apparently live in Cracker Town (with only the father leaving to "ball it up" with his black friends (who apparently have never experienced racism). The white daughter has the best attitude and will potentially get the most out of this. She is actually wanting to make friends in her "black setting" while it seems the others are just testing people around them. The black son is funny because he doesn't care about any of it. He does seem a little dim but mostly just apathetic. The white people in the focus group at the beginning were insane. I don't know how much the producers interfere but is that really a sampling of white pulled off of the streets of LA? One guy saying he thinks about washing his hands after shaking with a black guy and a woman who says the world is not equal because blacks get away with more? Really? My wife laughed at me because I couldn't stay seated during that part. They really seemed to have picked these two families because of the fathers. They wanted their opposite views to clash but not have either be super racist. My wife saw an interview a week or so ago, though, and apparently the black parents pick on the stupid white mom a lot.
No, I thought the same thing. She is much hotter black then she is white. She should stick with the new look. I've got an idea to pitch, it's called Extreme Black.White. You take a well-off white family from the River Oaks or Memorial area, make them black, and then put them in 5th Ward or maybe Compton. On the other side you take a black family from 5th Ward or Compton, make them white, and put them in Vidor, TX. Would anybody watch? Should make for some interesting tv, but the families would have to sign a liabilty waiver.
How about the white guy at the sports bar. He kept going on and on about how that area had been kept all white so it would be a safe place to raise a family. No one really says that kind of stuff to a stranger in response to a simple, "How's the neighborhood?" do they? Some of the show was like the Twilight Zone or something.
What about putting a redneck family in a wealthy black home and vice versa as well? White does not equal rich and black does not equal poor.
