Future Trouble??? Do any of you guys think if Van Gundy stay's will Yao want to resign when he becomes a Free Agent. With Rudy we had the benefit of knowing the players liked him and wanted to play for him. With Van Gundy it scares me that players will try to jump ship because of his Negativity and blandness. I'd hate to lose solid players and possibly one of the most sought after big men for nothing. Its like taking a lower paying job for piece of mind. I've done it before and it was the best decision I ever made. I gained piece of mind. Do you all think this is a legitimate concern for the future with our players?
If lakers want Yao, they have to work with us through a s&t. I don't believe they will have caproom to take Yao.
Yao is going to stay. JVG, I hope not. His defense 1st philosophy worked for one season, but it's sure as hell not working this season.
Lamar + Odom for Yao and Mo This will inject some much needed athleticism into the lineup. One way or another Les will have to make a decision that will impact the bottomline. He either eats the JVG contract or forgo Yao revenues.
If the Rockets are going to trade Yao, the only logical choice would be to a team that can really benefit from having him on the team. Los Angeles has a large Asian population which would be a boon for the Lakers ticket demand. There are the wannabe Asian actresses that Yao can have his fill of. There's the bigger endorsement money. Then you got Rudy T who would love to have Yao back. As much as JVG hates Mo, Rudy T loves Mo. I think Rudy will bring the best out of Yao and Mo especially with Vlade there. The Rockets get back Lamar Odom who immediately fills in the SF position pushing JJ to the bench. Chris Mihm starts at center. Juwan is pushed into the lineup as the starting PF. JVG gets to utilize his aggressive defense without caring one bit about the offense. He won't have to b**** about defensive rotations because Odom and Mihm are quick. My preference is for the team to can JVG and hire a guy who is very flexible in terms of allowing his team to offer insight to how they can improve their own play. At least put in a zone defense to not have Yao run around the court guarding the pick and roll. Mold the gameplan around the team rather than force the team to conform to the gameplan because JVG may be the most stubborn coach in the NBA. For the sake of the team, I think something needs to be done before an all-out meltdown occurs.
I don't think he will resign if JVG is still here. Les will not trade Yao.....he is not the problem.... DD
