Who do you guys think are future hall of famers out of the current NBA players that are towards the 2nd half of their career.

I know TDuncan,Shaq, & Kobe are in for sure but how about:

Tmac (never pass 1st rd of playoff, mutli scoring titles)
Garnett (only played in WCF once)
AI (Played in NBA final once, mutli scoring titles)
JKidd (Played in NBA finals, almost triple double guy)
Nash (Maybe 2nd time MVP, but only dominating past 2-3yrs)

    I dont think so:
    Ray Allen
    Pierce
    Vince Carter

KIDD and KG should make it at least by the 3rd ballot - much of it will be based on their "reputations" in their primes.

Nash still needs a couple of great seasons to get it. For now Alonso Mourning and maybe even Dekembe have a better shot than him.

Mac is an enigma. He has MVP talent but something is missing and I cannot put my finger on it now.

Iverson? Hmmmm......why not? Will likely take more than one opportunity.

    Grant Hill? Not first ballot.

Gary Payton? First or second ballot for sure.

It really depends for how long the potental HFs can play at an elevated level. For example, if Kobe blew out his knee now, I am not sure that he will be a lock on his first ballot.

As much as I dislike him, I think he would get in simply because of the 3 titles and 4 finals appearances that go along with his career stats.

I would say TD, Shaq, KG, and A.I. are locks.

    J. Kidd, G. Payton, Zo, Deke would probably get in.

What about Big Shot Bob Horry?

I know he doesn't have the stats but he was crucial to all the championships he has won. He hit huge shots and made big defensive stops for the Rox, Fakers, and Spurs. His impact was tremendous on those teams and without him, they may not have won those titles, let alone get to the finals (i.e. his last second shot with the Rockets against the spurs in the conf finals where he had not hit a single shot the entire game; Also, the last second shot against the Kings in game 6 of the conf finals)

Ahhh, no. It takes a lot more than rings to get into the hall of fame. 7 points and 5 rebounds a game for a career does not a hall of famer make....not even close.

Believe it or not, I think Sam Cassell makes a good case for the hall of fame. 16 points and 6 assist over a 17 year career, two rings, and he was arguably one of the top 2-3 point guards in the league from 1999-2004. Plus, he's the main reason the Clippers are decent this year. The only thing he doesn't have is the all star appearances (only one) There was always that one point guard that seemed to be having a better year than him.

    mourning of course.
if nash continues like this until he retires then he will easily be in it. i doubt Tmac will unless we start winning.

KG, maybe GP? ben wallace, chauncey billups. AI also.

In a recent ESPN the Magazine article, Horry said he would trade ALL his championships for a career like Barkley's.

Jim Jackson should be in, simply by the sheer number of teams he has played for. :D

I was gonna say mcgrady based on individual numbers but looking at his career I guess he does need to do for 3 or 4 more years.

I don't know about THAT. How many points would Barkley and Karl Malone trade for one of Horry's titles? To have something that, at most, 10% of the league has at one time seems pretty awesome to me. To think that Horry might get more titles in his career than Jordan is almost unfathomable.

Of course, Horry has nobody to blame but himself for his career. He was almost traded because of his lackluster effort during the regular season. The only reason he got his first two rings was because Sean Elliot failed his physical. Who knows where he would have gone if he were traded to Detroit.

If I were Horry, I might trade four titles for a career like Ray Allen's, but to trade every title for Barkley's career is borderline selfish...

1st Ballot Locks: Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, and AI.

Locks: Payton, KG, Nash, Kidd, and Ginobili.

Will make it eventually: Horry, Deke, Zo, and Ben Wallace.

Another thing on Horry, he said this on Quite Frankly, if he wins a championship this season he will retire because that will be 7 in 14 seasons, meaning 50% of his years in the NBA ended in championships! That's incredible.

If Kobe had a career ending injury ...
Shaq carried his weak-ass ;) to the finals 4 separate times. I don't know. He wiould eventually get in, just maybe not on the first ballot.

not trying to jump on people for their opinions here but horry??? come on you have to be joking, right? being a great role player on good teams doesn't make you the best of the best.

I believe it is the pro basketball hall of fame...

Do they often stick people in there for contributions beyond just their skills? Just curious if they'd end up putting yao in there for his contributions to making the game more global or something ( if he doesn't earn a spot based on play)

The three categories are induction as a player, coach, and contributor (refs, owners, executives, etc.), which is a shame, because if you take Rudy T's playing and coaching careers separately, he's probably not a hall of famer, but if you take his whole basketball career into account, I think he is a hall of famer...

Yao will surely make the HOF based on his play in the NBA, contribution to the game, and performance in International competition. It's pretty much a slam dunk, even if he never wins an NBA championship, which I think he will anyway.

Yeah, Yao had made a huge impact on the game. He kinda of made Back to the basket cool again. That said, give him 8 more solid years and he'll be a lock.

Ginobili has yet to come to that level & he has alot more years yet to play to prove him self. He is not even close to a lock...
