I started this thread to post some video mixes I came across on Google video. I love watching this dude play, he is amazing and should win FIFA World Player of the Year AGAIN! He has resurrected Barcelona and the things he can do with the ball are unbelievable. Unlike Cristiano Ronaldo who has amazing skills with the ball, Ronaldinho uses them to create for his team rathen than simply showing off.

Check out the Nike video where he is juggling the ball and then kicking it off the goal post and immediately juggling it again (now that is sick!!!).

For those who say Soccer players are NOT athletes and are boring to watch, you have no idea what you are talking about and are missing out on watching the greatest game invented.

Just out of curisoity, who says soccer players aren't athletes? I've heard people say soccer is boring, that there's not enough scoring, but I've never heard them say soccer players aren't athletes? Anyone that runs that much has to be an athlete...

Why not post some of Ronaldo's compilations? He turns GOALLIES into pretzels... I will find one and show you... WAY BETTER than Ronaldinho, IMO [Jeff].

See I'm just not that impressed by that stuff. Most of the tricks he plays with the ball don't even end up scoring, and some of them even end up with the other team gaining possession of the ball. That's soccer's problem - there's just too little scoring.

In my opinion (feel free to disagree with it, because I'm sure a lot of you soccer fans will...), these highlights of this guy don't come close to comparing to a facial dunk in basketball, a 450ft homerun in baseball, or a 50 yard touchdown pass/catch or run in football.

ronaldo is overrated, imo. he's good, but ronaldinho is much better. much, much better. ronaldo seemed to peak early to me in that he was better early on in his career. when he was really young, he was far and away the best player in the game, but has since sort of faded away...he's still a superstar, but doesn't have what ronaldinho has.

it's sort of like vince carter. remember when he was considered to be the next hall of fame superstar? but he peaked early and got hurt and is no longer considered a top 5 player.

No, soccer's problem is that the players don't get to use their hands or hit each other...

There are plenty of people. One for sure is Jim Rome (and I listen to the Jungle religiously cause i love the show) who constantly says soccer players are mullet wearing euros who flop around the field and shouldn't be considered athletes. There are other national hosts who express the same feelings.

Anytime soccer is brought up, it is done so sarcastically, poking fun at it. Case in point, Marc and Rich who laughed at the guy who called in on Friday to ask how the WC draws came out and went on to laugh about soccer (van dermeer actually defended the WC but all in all they usually poke fun). And Chalie Pallilo also sarcastically discucced the WC draw on his show.

Ronaldo is an amazing player as well but right now I would take Ronaldinho is a heart beat. The guy makes players around him better and has helped resurect Barcelona. Barca is so lucky Real Madrid beat them out for Becks.

Alot of it ends up in a set up for a teammate or a shot on goal. Yeah, he doesn't score everytime he does it but he gets by the defender alot of the time and brings excitement to the game. Players like him are unbelievable and there are so many world class players like him in the World. Watch the World Cup and you'll see.

I love watching T-mac drop a facial and Steve McNair almost get sacked 3 times and get off an ubelievable pass as much as any NBA and NFL fan but these ronaldinho type plays, especially while watching it during the course of a game are just as great.

Not that I'd take Ronaldo over Ronaldinho, but how can you say the guy has faded away when he scored a goal a game at the last World Cup and took the golden boot? Yeah, because of injury he's fallen off a little, but he's still one of the most feared strikers in the game.

If only the brass at Old Trafford would reallize this and flog the selfish, diving **** to Real for a ton of money, before the rest of the world realizes it and we're stuck with him.

Ronaldinho is the best player in the world, bar none. Brilliant talent.

I think this will be one of the first of many non D&D    you get for trying to compare futbol to basketball, baseball or football when you probably don't understand how difficult it is to control a ball with only your feet, while your running and trying to avoid guys who try to stop you by kicking at you with studs on the bottom of their shoes while also holding on to your shirt and possibly hitting you with their arms and hands. Sounds easy to you doesn't it.And I thought you were only ignorant in the D&D.

Ok, the personal attack wasn't needed. I fully understand how difficult it is, because I played soccer for over 10 years. In fact, I was pretty good - played on some top select teams before giving it up for baseball and basketball.

I have seen that commercial and i don't think that he actually is doing that. He is a bad ass player and i love his moves but i think the parts where he is hitting the cross bar over and over are not real time.

That part was doctored, this was clarified later. He's still probably the best player in the world right now. Much better than Ronaldo.
