I was reading the Chronicle recap and at the bottom there's this funny quote: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2415564 ----- On several occasions during Saturday's game at American Airlines Center, announcer Billy Hayes pronounced Yao's name with a mocking Chinese accent. When the Rockets center would score, Hayes would say Yao's name without any accent, as he does with every opposing player. However, when Hayes he was announcing several fouls, he seemed to be mocking either Yao's Chinese background or his accent. "I didn't hear it or I wasn't listening to him," Yao said. "If I heard it, I think I would have some thoughts. Right now, I'm not too happy. "There are all kinds of people out there. It's a big world. There are lots of branches on the tree and many kinds of birds." ----- hahaha... i don't even know why that's funny but it just sounds so riculous that i got a good chuckle. i wonder if the actual untranslated quote is this funny too.
They then asked Yao what kind of bird would say something like that about him and he said (paraphrasing) that it is a new bird to him. He should have said: An ugly ass vulture who will have his head shoved far up his ass next time i see him.
too bad they canceled doggy fizzle televizzle... yao likes watching TV right? he could have learned to be a ganster. i actually liked that show too...
That's a famous Chinese saying. I thought you should know that since your name looks like a Chinese name
good...i hope yao murders the mavs next time he is in dallas also...has anyone emailed the mavs about that guy yet?
actually in chinese: bird ---> penis (i am sorry i have to use this word to describe the exact meaning) and "bird (people)" can be translated into something like weirdo
Yeah. You got it. Plus: Asked what sort of bird would feel the need to make fun of where he is from, Yao said, "It's a new type of bird. I've never seen it."
Shouldn't we be angrily emailing the Mavs? I'm about to fire one off to Cuban since he tends to read emails.
