Kevin Smith explains what happened to his Superman movie
Kevin Smith isn't just a great filmmaker, he's also a fantastic raconteur. Here he is telling the story of how he came not to make a Superman movie -- this is one of those classic Oh-My-God-Hollywood-Is-Full-of-Idiots stories, and Smith tells it like no one else.

I really like Smith's podcast, "Smodcast". In fact I probably like his podcast more than his actual movies. Not that his movies are bad, they're still pretty watchable. But the podcast distills the best parts of those movies, the free-flowing dialogue and funny/fascinating discussion, on a more regular basis.

Smodcast is one of my favorite podcasts, and that YouTube clip is a perfect example of why his discourse is so entertaining.

Is this the same clip from his "An Evening with Kevin Smith" DVD from 5 years ago? I don't have access to view but if it his I highly recommend it, Kevin Smith is a fantastic storyteller

Edit: it is from that dvd

If you watched the cartoon Superman/Doomsday movie dvd that came out a few years ago, there is an inside joke about that story

    Great video.

I really wish they would reboot Superman. There have been rumors of the Wachowski brothers taking over, but that was debunked. I also have heard the comic book writer Mark Millar submitted an outline that involved a Godfather-life Superman story. I'll find the story.

Didnt' think I would be able to watch the whole thing either but it was definately worth it. You can really see his writing style in his story telling.

If you have netflix, you can watch An Evening with Kevin Smith on instant watch. (Don't watch the 2nd one.)

I take it back, they apparently removed the first one from instant watch. Still have the 2nd, crappy one.

Smith impressed me though, that he could be so funny just standing up and shooting the ****.
