I find it funny that someone who claims to have military experience would get the sound of a bolt action rifle confused with a shotgun.

And hunting deer with shotguns is very much legal in many places...buckshot anyone?

 

To clarify certain shotgun I meant. It is illegal to hunt or shoot deer with firearms smaller than .22 caliber center-fire or a shotgun loaded with anything other than buckshot or rifled slug. This is in Louisiana. I don't know anymore, since I don't hunt.
