Game or not Season or Off-Season Players, Fans, Coaches, Commentators, Mascots, Radio interviews, quotes in the Chron, what you did, or your partner, what happened in the bathroom at the Summit... and yes even moments at Spy watching in amazement as #33 drives away in the wrong lane of Main St. What are your funniest Rox moments deemed proper for this forum. Mine is watching Rudy run around like a chicken with his head cut off after Game 7!! 2nd to that is Barkley bodyslamming Shaq. Favorite fan experience is once an overweight young women sat down behind us about mid second quarter with two pizza's and ate them in about 5 minutes then left and never came back... "Honey, I have to go to the restroom, I'll be back in 5 minutes." hehehe
The best has to be Barkley body slamming Shaq. I will never forget that, the whole place erupted when he did that. Im still pissed we lost that game by one point.
What about everytime Clutch the Bear is celebrating someone's B-day between timeouts and he carries around that cake and then accidentally falls and smashes it into an unsuspecting fan who looks genuinely PO'd. Don't they see it coming?
Good topic. Gene Peterson. 1993-94. Last regular season game against the Spurs. The result was horrible but Gene's reaction was priceless.
Favorite Rocket moment was when Ralph Sampson made the volleyball shot against the Lakers in the 86 WCF. That was just such an intense game with Dream getting tossed. The Rockets seemed to be destined to loose when they fell behind from the start and my adrenaline was so high that when Ralph hit the shot I must have yelled as loud as I could for 10 minutes straight. That shot was the closest thing to footballs hail marry pass that you can have in basketball. For a brief time Ralph Sampson was the player that everyone in Houston thought he would be after we beat Indiana in the coin toss. Funniest moment had to be when the Rockets were playing the Clippers. It was just a few seconds before half and the Rockets inbounded the ball to Buck Johnson at mid court. Buck Johnson then turned and made a half court shot. While Buck stood at half court laughing and celebrating with a team mate one of the Clippers inbounded the ball to Danny Manning who shot the ball ¾ the distance of the court and made the shot to up stage Buck Johnson’s shot while Buck just stared all wide eyed. Other funny moment was when Dream sucker punched Billy Paultz during a Rockets / Jazz play-off game. All the players and officials had moved to the other end of the court while Paultz and Dream stayed back. When Paultz started to turn to move to the other end of the court Dream smacked him in the side of his head and Paultz dropped like a ton of bricks. The funny thing was that the officials did not see it nor did any of the other players on the court. It happened in Utah so the fans were going nuts but Dream got to stay in the game as if nothing ever happened.
Funniest Moment: Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Rockets have the chance to put it away when John Starks bricks another three-pointer, but one of the Knicks is fouled on the rebound. Rudy is extremely upset and agitated, and begins screaming at someone on the court. Never ONCE taking his eyes off the court, he then proceeds to grab, with both of his hands, Scottie Brooks, who was unfortunate enough to be standing next to Rudy at that moment. Still screaming at whoever on the court, Rudy now proceeds to begin violently shaking and mercilessly pummeling Scottie Brooks. This would have been amusing if Rudy was pounding on an immoveable object like Larry Smith, but it was positively hilarious to see the much smaller Brooks transform from excited to terrified, as he suddenly realized he was getting his ass whooped.
1. Going Roo Huntin with CB and drinking Fawters in a Cave with him. 2. The MallKid overhearing the conversation about the Steve Francis trade!!!
One I recall cracking me up was in the '94 (I think) playoffs against Utah. The Rocks had one of their stellar 3-pointer games, with Kenny Smith hitting tre after tre. They were at Utah, up by more than 30 points, the place was silent, but all the Jazz fans kept standing and they wouldn't leave. It was like night of the living Jazz fans. Over 10,000 people just standing there silent and slack-jawed watching their lame team get destroyed. Not one of them would leave that barn they play in, the Delta Center.
I'm surprised that no one brought this up yet. The "We will kiss(kick) you ass." of Blazersgal. Priceless.
We were playing the suns and Marion was still a rookie. It was a jump ball and Marion retrieved and ran all the way down to the other end and nobody was chasing him, but he was running towards the wrong goal. Funniest moment along wit the suplex barkley pulled.
Cuttino and Moochie after ending our losing streak, and the confetti that came down from the rafters.
I've got to go with the bat. What a truly quaint television moment, I don't know how that didn't make the song.
Looking back, the funniest or saddest moment depending on which way you look at it occured on Friday, October 15, 1999. It was a Rockets preseason game against the Cavaliers. Kelvin Cato's statline from that game was as follows: 20 points, 13 rebounds, 12 blocks. I remember after one nasty block he twisted and pumped his fist while saliva came flying out of his mouth, prompting Bill Worell to exclaim, "Kelvin Cato is foaming at the mouth!" Ten days later the Rockets had signed him to a six year deal worth $42 million...and the rest is history.
