for the new AAA baseball team in my hometown.
We'll have them in Albuquerque, New Mexico next fall.

But what gets me here is the name of our new team.

Remeber the simpsons?? and the franchise they have in a few of their episodes?

Duff Man?? that ring a bell.

Well the name our city voted for was the ,Albuquerque Isotopes I actually really like it.

But what would the mascot be???

I'm thinking of a Homer Simpson Mascot chained in the outfield, remember that episode with Homer lol

Isotopes are things that different number of electrons in an atom i think. I remember we had this test a few weeks back. For example, Hydrogen has 1, and Li has 2. It has to do with their columns and where they're placed. But anyways, lets not get into science. I like the name for the team.

Isotopes actually have different number of neutrons. The atom is determined by the number of protons. For example, an atom with 6 protons is always carbon but C-12 has 6 neutrons and C-13 has 7 neutrons.

"I'm working on gospel time these days
(The summer - this could be the cool part of the summer)
The sloe-eyed creature in the reckless room she's so severe
A wise child walks right out of here
I'm so excited I can barely cope
I'm sizzling like an isotope
I'm on fire so cut me some slack "

That's good, Giddyup. I'd vote for the Beisbolistos. Or the Badlands of New Mexico.

I was hoping when the Texas-Louisiana League put a team in the Springfield, MO. area they'd name it the Springfield Isotopes, but they went with Springfield-Ozark Mountain Ducks instead.

I love the quote from the mayor:

"This isn't a second-rate city that should be taking our name from a cartoon show," Mayor Marin Chavez told reporters upon hearing the name for the new local team.

hahaa... I just returned from ABQ last night! The 'Topes were the talk of the town. They actually had like 3 other choices that were pretty good. The Dukes (name of the old ABQ team), the Roadrunners, The Isotopes and one other I don't remember... The reaction from some folks I talked to was mixed. But they did show the scene from the Simpsons.. too damn funny!

:D

Wow. Why did the Dukes leave Albuquerue--the Dodgers AAA team? I did not even realize that happened.
