    Before Satellite Radio,
I listened to Jim Rome . I liked the show.
Now I listen to Full Court Press with Kenny Smith.
its SO MUCH BETTER than Jim Rome.

    1. its about the NBA. I dont like it when Jim talks about other sports like Golf, Baseball, and Hockey

    2. Kenny Smith's a more fun host and he knows most of his guests. Jim usually doesnt know his guests really well. Kenny either plays or talks with his guests on a frequent basis.

Today, they had Mario Elie on. Mario talked about Avery Johnson winning Coach of the Year. Mario says it'll pave the way for the young African American former player to be a successful coach. Kenny says he believes in 400 days Mario will be a head coach. Mario said he'd love Kenny to be part of the organization.
Mario also talks about road trip stories back in the day. Says that Kenny was a pig in the hotel room. his room was extremely messy. says Kenny's excuse was ' I dont live here '.
Mario also says Kenny didnt have any interesting road stories, but SAM AND VERNON MAXWELL did!

    3. Callers

The Clones are getting old to me. it seems that they prepare and rehearse their 'takes'.

The cool thing about Kenny's callers is that most of them are former players. They had ERIC RILLEY on. Kenny had to ask him a personal question to see if that was really him. Also Chucky Brown calls up the other day.

one of Kenny' regulars, Rick the Ruler, ticked off Mark Jackson, so that Mark called in and said 'you tell your listener Rick, that made no sense'.
    I forgot the topic.

    4. Kenny talks about random stuff
Talked about winning money last week in vegas at craps, when his room number was 777 and his flight was 77.
Talked about other NBA players like Sam Cassell calling him on his cell.
Talked about Rap Music. This week, they were talking having a greatest hip hop play list.
Talked about himself being a 'pseudo celebrity' meaning, he could be in a limo with USHER and also hang out with Ushers (at the movie theater) and it would be cool. Says he doesnt get mobbed like a 'real celebrity'.

    5. Guests
He gets non-NBA guests like Bobby Brown, Chuck D. random celebrities who love to talk about the NBA. Michael Rapport..etc

    6. Always representing CLUTCH CITY
you will always get a story or mention about the greatest championships in Houston history.

Throughout the playoffs, NBA fans will also hear interviews and expert analysis on SIRIUS’ NBA talk shows. Full Court Press, hosted by Kenny Smith and Ian Eagle, airs weekdays from 12-3 p.m. ET, and The Phil Jackson Show, featuring the renowned head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, airs Mondays from 6-7 p.m. ET. Both shows air exclusively on SIRIUS Sports Action, channel 123.

What about Kenny Smith on the Jim Rome show? I'm still trying to figure out the meaning of his NBA lockout explanation and that was almost 8 year ago.:)

I don't see how you can really compare the two. Rome is all sports, while I'm sure Kenny is geared toward basketball. And of course you're going to like Kenny better since he was a Rocket, and he's going to talk about the NBA most of the time.

I'm not a fan of Rome either...I do listen every now and then for entertainment purposes. He does have pretty funny comments on some things...I don't take what he says too seriously though. If he didn't go "out on a limb" with some of his takes he wouldn't get near the audience. That's part of being a radio personality, you can't just go with the in-crowd.

The reason i'm comparing the two is that they occupy the same time slot.
I had to choose one, and Kenny is better.
I'm not picking Kenny because he's an ex-Rocket. He's really good. Why do you think he and Charles are so popular?

Rome should have quit radio the week after the Hollifield/Tyson fight...that way he would have gone out on top

now it all just sounds the same :(

Kenny is at the NBA store interviewing David Stern (now on Sirius)

Stern said talked about how there's more motion in the offenses today and how much better that is. said " No offense to Rudy T, but I dont like Steve Francis ISOing with 4 people sitting in the parking lot "

Stern also dissed Eurobasketball saying that Anthony Parker was their MVP and Trajon Langdon was the playoffs hero there. Saying 'JJ Redick would own that league'. Also mentioning that the best Euros are in the NBA like Dirk.

I'd like to hijack this thread and turn it into a anti bang my monkey soapbox and say

Rome sucks period. Lets get his a$$ of the air and fill it with pure silence or john tesh classics. It would get better ratings. that 11-2 time slot would be PHENOMENAL as static noise.

its not hijacking cause jim rome is in the title of this thread.

go on sirius's website and get the free 3 day trial where u can listen on the web. listen to NBA Full Court Press and tell me if you like it.

I know u will like it better than Rome.

The thing I like about Kenny's show is that he's just talking like Barber shop stuff. the other day, Kenny and michael Rapaport commented on the bad fashions of the NBA, saying Amare 's suit are too small for him, and that AI's are cut wrong.
