the first final not to be a shutout since 1986. the first team to score has won the last 7 finals, so it should be interesting since Italy has tied it up.

Is it just me, or do the announcers blatantly overlook flopping, and try to justify it as a legit injury?

The French are getting killed on the corner kicks.

The Italian corner/cross-to-tall players (Toni, Materrazi) strategy seems like the equivalent of the high pick-and-roll Yao/TMac combo.

You know its coming but its just so hard to stop. What I really like about this play by the Italians is that they are actually trying to score goals, rather than play for the penalty. Great game for a finals!

Yeah with some luck they could have scored 3 times out of the 3 corners.

    A) There aren't many scholarships to go around. Texas has 1 Div. 1 soccer program (SMU).

    B) This is not a game you just pick up at 15 or 16 and become proficient enough to have a chance professionally. There is years of training that you can't make up.

This hasn't been the best played final I've seen. Even with the goals, both teams look hesitant...except on Italy's set pieces. They're dominating on them so far. Zidane hasn't really been able to take over yet. Henry is really starting to pick it up.

Balboa is a moron. I don't understand why this is ABC's #1 crew. IMO, it should be JP Delacamera and John Harkes. Balboa is a tool. I never liked him as a player. His entire career was defined by a missed bicycle kick against Columbia in the 94 Cup.

I agree, it was a penalty, the Italian tried to avoid him, however he did touch his french player, and he got tripped because of that.

Well now they are even ... that one should have been a PK ... the first one shouldn't have been.

France is really looking strong at the start of the half. Very aggressive! This is fun to watch.
