Watching the second Spurs-Rockets game Saturday night, I got really frustrated with the referees allowing "close defense" -- outright fouls -- by the Spurs and then not calling it the same way on the other end. My fantasy was this: I wondered what would have happened had JVG had pulled the team aside and instructed them to give free access by the Spurs by standing around the half court line. Then, when we inbounded, let the Rocks just shoot threes from the half court line staying well away from Spurs players. Stern can't fine a team for playing badly as long as they are on court playing. This would make a point of the unfair refereeing without openly critiicizing the refs (and drawing fines). It would be like a forfeit without walking off the court. The resulting loss would certainly be talked about and the refs would really draw some scrutiny. They might even be so embarrassed they would try to call games fairly. I know my fantasy is silly, but I was that mad about this game.
No matter how bad the officials may or may not be, Id be thoroughly disgusted if the team quit (as you have suggested), and didnt try to win the game just to make an example out of the refs. If that happened, JVG should be, and probably would be, fired.
It's confirmed.....this is the worst thread ever. I'm frustrated with the way this team is playing(like a bunch of girls who have never touched a basketball), but c'mon.
Actually remember when we lost to I think either the T-Wolves ro the Kings 3 years ago? The one where Steve got that 2nd BS tech? About half the people on this board said Rudy should've just took the team off court as he was T-ed up. I was in the camp that felt like a call as bad as that (and as influential as that) might've warranted some of those action. What was classic was the ref said something like "if I had known it would've been his second tech I wouldn't have called it".

Quit blaming the refs. Go to a few other message boards and you'll see a lot of people blaming the refs the same way...its the same everywhere in the league. The refs are good, the players are bad, deal with it.
Disagree. I've watched games where I really didn't care who won or lost and I've noticed that the refs favor one team over the other on the same type of calls. The worst are the Laker calls, but I ignore these observations because I know I am prejudiced against the Lakers.
