Yes, I've taken the plunge. I basically found a way to f' my self over in a year, (ok, not really. but it sounded cooler than just saying I'm a poor broke student) Anyway, rather than pay the ridiculous tuitions at UH for basic courses, I'm going to HCC this year. Anyone have anything to offer in the way of...tuition....courses...professors...etc.?
Sure, TOCAYO. Take the RAIL! p.s. did you mean UH central, clear lake, or downtown? Almost everyone nowadays calls all three "uh" just because they're from the same baby's dady...
I, too, will be attending HCC (central) instead of UH (downtown)... I intend to finished my degree at UH, but HCC classes will transfer and the tuition is less than half of UH. -- droxford
Well, good for both of you dudes. For a specific reason, I couldn't go to HCC, but now I think it would have been a good choice. My wife goes to HCC's campus near our house, and is looking to finish at UH maybe D. One more class in the Fall of 2004, and I am finished at UH-D. Eleven years is NOT bad, is it?
Not compared to me, it isn't. I dropped out of college in '88. Now, I return 16 years later, with a full time job/career, wife, kid, house and a lot more wisdom. -- droxford
Just remember collegiates, you can only transfer a maximum of 60 hours to an accredited school. Don't waste too much time there.
Well, the cool thing is... When I was fresh out of high school, I went to SFA for 36 hours. UHD has told me that all of them transfer, AND I can take and transfer an additional 66 hours from HCC. And on top of that, the hours transfer, but the grades don't. I was making C's and D's at SFA, but now I have a 3.5 average at UHD 'cause none of those C's and D's apply to my GPA. schweet! -- droxford
nothing wrong with that...I did that as I had to pay my way...Went to San Jac, got an associates, finished at UH, the rest is history... Anything you can do to better your lives, situation is a good thing...don't quit, it will all be worth it, trust me...
i bounced my ass all over the place. i went to hcc and southwest before graduating from ut, whew! later, after taking some post-bac classes at uh, i got an MFA from the school of visual arts in NYC. just keep your eyes on the prize.
i believe its around 66 hours now. I'll be transferring to UH after the fall semester, with approx 62 to 65 from Cy Fair College.
i went to lee college in baytown and am transfering to uh this fall. i had a sweet deal going at lee though, i had more than enough in scholarships and grants so i was making over a grand a semester just for going to school, but now that im at uh those days are long gone....*sigh* just means i wont to get to go to as many rockets games :-( all though with the wagoneers on board i don't think i would have got to go to as many games anyway. (frowny face here...i dont know how to make one)
WRONG! Stop trying to do my job. You can transfer up to 66 hours from a Junior or Community College to a 4 year.
You are going my route. HCC for 2 yrs then off the UH (main campus). Got a B.S. in Info. Systems Technology. Word of advice take summer school every summer. It will shave off about a year of classes.
thinking about going to U of H or Texas Tech myself.... if not might start off first year at at Cy-Fair College (REALLY nice community college) or HCC NorthWest before heading over to U of H or TT
I'll be looking at about 9 years for my degree. Stuff happens. Things don't always work out the first time around. Oh well, that's life.
