I live in Utah so when the Rockets came to Utah I took some photos at the game and wrote a little recap on the game and what the Rockets did before the game.

Great work FrancisFan. The pics look great.

Was Cuttino amicable? Did you ask Steve what sort of tree he would be, if he were a tree?

p.s. kids: notice how Steve pulls the cap down to cover up his ears (the hat's not quite big enough, but it's a good try). This is a lesson for all of you future Sundance Festival freaks that want to look like the Cat in the Hat.

Cat was very nice. I even asked him if I could get a picture of his new Nikes, so he tilted his shoe so that I could.

I was going to ask Steve the tree question when he was signing, but he had to go to the locker room because he was running late.

Might as well throw down my recap here, too.

Saw FrancisFan after a bit, the only Mobley jersey there. Lucky b*stard, had pretty good seats. Man, it sucks being poor...

Got to the Delta Center right around 5:30, when they opened the doors, with my small group of friends. Went directly down to the shootaround, before the game. To be perfectly blunt, Collier could not find the basket, even in practice. Langhi had a good shootaround, and Shandon looked EXTREMELY focused. You know how much he must hate that team.

I was able to grab Kenny and have him sign my hat, but he was real quiet and didn't have much to say to anybody. Moochie came out after a while, but didn't shootaround, just kind of stood there and listened to his headphones. Mobley came out and shot for a bit, and I got his autograph on my hat, too. When Steve came out to practice, he went to the opposite end and played one-on-one with this little five-year old or something, and entertained some of the Utah fanzzzzzzz. As he headed down the tunnel, I asked him what kind of tree he would be and he looked at me like I was crazy (imagine that) and kept running, with a grin on his face. Oh well, I tried.

Now for the game: While Mobley only went 6-17 or something, I was surprised to see us get away from the one-on-one penetration that he used to get us back into the game after Utah took their lead. I was continually surprised that we didn't really go to Mobley in the overtime period WITH BOTH STEVE AND MO OUT. Who else would we go to? He was clearly the most offensive-minded player on the floor, but, for some reason, we didn't go to him as much.

Shandon really wanted this game. I don't think anybody attacked the basket as much as he did all game long. Every time he did anything, all of my friends and I stood up and gave him a standing ovation just to piss off the booing Jazz fanzzzzzz. The one thing I didn't like that we did in the fourth quarter and in the overtime period is the doubling of Stockton with Bullard. Not that it is a bad idea to double him and try to get the ball out of his hands, but it looked as though Matt was rather indecisive, and unwilling to come over and double. So really, all it did was slightly inconvenience Stockton while leaving the whole middle of the floor open, which was usually taken advantage of my Manning, which almost always led to an easy basket inside. If Matt is going to double, MAKE UP YOUR MIND. Don't go halfway, then cheat back to Manning. It does us no good. Not to mention, after they scored on three or four straight possessions while we kept doing this, I thought we would stop, but we didn't.

Utah killed us on the offensive glass, but, you all know that, I don't need to talk about it.

I was very disappointed in the Jazz fanzzzz. Not only the Shandon comment (which I just read about and found EXTREMELY disturbing), but, we talked so much **** and nobody said a word to us. It isn't like we were hard to miss, with my Houston jacket, shooting shirt, hat, etc. Nobody would confront us...I guess nobody has faith in the Jazz even in Utah.....

All in all: From watching us play, this team is not that bad off. We are one good rebounder/defender away from moving to that upper echelon in the West. No, I'm not saying we'll be as good as the Blazers, Spurs, Lakers, etc. But the gap between say Utah and Denver is NOT THAT BIG. I think we could easily fit ourselves somewhere inbetween.

Wow. That would be awesome. I'm going to a Rockets game in Philly with some of my relatives who live in Quakertown, PA. If you don't have lower level tickets do they let you go down by the players before the game to get 'graphs?

I've never been to the First Union Center, so I have no clue if they'll let me go down when they are warming up 2 hours before the game. If they don't let ya, I'll just find a way to get past the ticket taker guys [IMG]

Francis Fan it's tough to see from the picture how the shoes look, what was your impression, and any idea when they will be available to the public?

    White? Yes.

Damn, wasn't me...I think the cameras' lens would have busted at the altitude my seats were at.
