HOLLYWOOD - Seminal sitcom Friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.

In a secret meeting before Christmas, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry reportedly agreed a $5 million apiece deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.

Scriptwriters have already started penning lines for the four double episodes, which are due to air next year.

Aniston, who has filmed a string of movies since the final Friends episode, was the last to agree to the new deal.

An NBC insider says, "She's the one who had been holding out. But she's now agreed to reprise Rachel (Green).

"Bringing them back is a dream come true. Ratings will go through the roof."

Network bosses have also hinted at a second spin-off of the hit comedy, following the disappointing performance of Matt LeBlanc's show Joey. The new program will see the three male stars--Perry, Schwimmer and LeBlanc--pilot a series called It's A Guy Thing.

An NBC spokesperson confirms, "Negotiations on future projects are going on all the time."

No reunion for Friends - Warner

Reports that the seminal comedy Friends is to be revived were denied tonight by the show’s producers.

Reports that the seminal comedy Friends is to be revived were denied tonight by the show’s producers.

According to stories on the internet, the six stars of the hit sitcom have agreed multi-million dollar deals to reprise their roles for four one-hour specials.

But a spokeswoman for Warner Bros insisted there were no plans for any new episodes or spin-offs.

“There is absolutely no truth in it – it’s all rumour,” she said.

“There is nothing planned of any kind.”

The reports claimed the double episodes were due to air next year, with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry all having done the deal in a secret meeting before Christmas.

Aniston was said to have been the last to agree.

It was also reported that the three male stars were to make a new spin-off called It’s A Guy Thing.

    Boo, I wanted it too.

Knowing how awful NBC's ratings are, I wouldn't be surprised if they attempted something this desperate.

Not to mention any sane person would know that's total BS. I think every single one of 'em said when the show was ending that there was no way in hell they'd come back and revisit the characters in reunion episodes. You would have to think even if they back off that original sentiment, it would be a little bit further down the road than one year. Plus, if they included the three male leads in a new series, they would almost certainly have to include Monica and Rachel, and if not the writers would either have to serverely screw up the storyline from the show and split those couples up (which would probably infuriate fans) or present the show in a way where you never see the girls (which would be impossible). While it would be nice to revisit Friends, if NBC actually did this it would clearly be an act of desperation and I'd highly doubt the product would come even remotely close to the original series.

I had a feeling it was fake because the dude who plays Ross is always complaining about being remembered only for playing Ross.

He sat at the table next to us at dinner last Friday. He had some giant puffy pimp daddy jacket on and his buddy had a terrible beret. I was thinking "19.99 steak frites at Les Halles...things must be going bad for Ross"

Well, I watched the show, but only for Jennifer Coolidge's character. NBC really ought to spin of a show that character.
