I mean, thats the game, look at how many we miss...0-2 or 1-2 ...sometimes I feel like they take on the spirit of Shaq. Lets hope they dont comeback to bite us tonite
Tonight? You mean all season. It's just not that hard. It's 15 feet of nothing. Unexcusable, and it's costing them games.
Sorry but we cant win with missing freethrows and layups. Every team in the playoffs can do these things. I mean we are just not that good I guess. We are going to have to do something before next year because if your players cant hit layups and freethrows you are never going to be good.
Eh, I knew free throw shooting was going to kill them in the playoffs, but what can I say? +12 differential in FTA for the Rockets, 14 point lead for the Jazz. Sigh.
Missed FTs aren't the reason tonight. The Jazz are just better. Getting outshot 52% to 36% from the floor was the killer, not FT%. I'm sorry to say the Rockets just don't have enough talent and athleticism on the roster to beat the Jazz.
People don't want to hear that, but it's true. I firmly believe this year's playoffs are all about our rookies and that's why I won't divert my eyes from this ineveitable trainwreck. I also believe the streak took everything this team had. I have no complaints.
I can't help but think that the blame somehow lies with Adleman. That maybe he just doesn't emphasize them as much in practice. I don't know what it is. His first year with Sacramento, they were dreadful and only shot 68% but after that they were really good. We weren't nearly this bad in previous years. 2008: 72.6 2007: 75.3 2006: 75.9 2005: 78.1 2004: 77.3 2003: 76.8 2002: 74.1 2001: 75.8 2000: 73.3 1999: 72.9 The last time a Rockets team was worse than this years team was the '89-'90 squad that shot 72.0%
Missed free throws aren't the sole reason they lost the game, but it is one of the many factors that keeps piling on against them. When Rockets are fighting a battle as shorthanded as they are, every possession and point counts. The best way to secure them is at the Free throw line. They call it "free" because it is only logical to think that a professional basketball player should atleast make more than 75% of his shots unguarded 10 feet from the line. If you think about it, its not really asking for much. It's not a problem that has jumped on them all of a sudden either. This problem has persisted all season long and they have had plenty of time to rectify it. It's not about talent either. It's about fundamentals, habit, muscle memory, and practice, all of which can be addressed, especially by a bunch of grown up professionals. Would you be comfortable going into surgery if your anesthesiologist just told you that based on his record, you had a 50% chance of seeing him again? Or how about a mechanic who gets a successful oil change on only half the car he attempts? When you are at a professional level, there are certain things that are taken for granted. For basketball players, making free throws is one of them. Otherwise they would just be called "Throws".
that's still good. But as a team we were horrible at the ft line. Scola couldn't make them. He is a guy that one day will come out and make 10/10 and than he can make 3/10 another game. We just gotta make them, those are the easiest points. Layups, free throws that KILLED US
noone on this team is a great shooter or has good form so naturally they will suck at free throws. however, j-kidd has no J but he can hit free throws better than anyone on our team. noone on this team has a consistent shooting form.
Doh. I'm an unathletic skinny geek, but even I shoot 70% from the line. That's with very little practice and I don't get paid hundreds of thousands to play. These Rockets are pathetics and unprofessional.
