The company called code master is trying out a different type of business model. Free MMO, pay for gear. The games back when they were paid to play received very so so ratings and reviews. However, everyone did concede that they look gorgeous and for free to play, I don't mind trying it out. The two games are rfonline and archlord. Just thought I let the board know. On a side note to this, what do you guys think of the business model? I know there gonna have people coming in hear complaining about the richest players win, but on the other hand, I've grinded raids in WOW and I must say that it's unfair that people with the most time on their hands (aka college students) gets the best gear while people with jobs and other responsibilities are shafted. http://www.rf-onlinegame.com/ http://www.archlordgame.com/ Sidenote: Account creation is a pain, their web server seem unstable.
Ideally the player with the most skill would have the best character. Unfortunately it's not very easy to determine that. Just because somebody doesn't have a job and can put in 50+ hours a week doesn't mean that they're any good, they're just determined. Time is a better option than money though.
Didn't want to start a new thread, but have any one did a search for free MMO lately? I'm just amazed at how fast this industry has blown up and it's starting to feel a little like the wild wild west. There are new games coming out everyday and most of them are actually at reasonable production value. For you FPS fans, there are actually free online FPS. Just check out this site which links to games from all developers and such: http://www.onrpg.com/ I usually get sucker into PS3 vs. XBox360 debates (I have a PS3) but after my last upgrade (ATI Radeon 5770) I must say PC is still >>>>>> all console gaming. Fallout on PC is superior graphically than on console. Currently trying out a game called Jade Dynasty. For a free game, I must say it's not bad at all.
Heh, I played RFonline when it wasn't free to play.. 3 years ago? It bombed, so they tried microtransaction. I guess that bombed too. The developers supposedly relaunched it this year for US/NA. I think it might still be going strong in S. Korea/Japan. I can't stand microtransaction games, but they're everywhere and they're growing.
A friend and I play Dungeon Fighter Online. It's a free, pay-for-appearance/gear etc. game as well. It's in a side-scrolling beat-em-up fashion. I prefer it to the 3D MMO's because it's more casual to me and I won't have another Everquest situation happen Lol. Website, screenshots, DL, etc. here: http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/Intro/
Yeah, but that was 3 years ago, I got tired of that game within a week. However, for everyone that dies, 3 pops up.
I believe you are correct. I haven't really played* the game, so I have no idea if it is worth giving a shot. *tried the open beta for a day.
I played it for about a month and got bored with it. No MMO has been as fun to play as WoW was originally. They're all re-hashing the same thing over and over and most of them do it "less well".
Have to agree with you. Not that I play WoW anymore thank god but I still remember how fun it was to start with, with each expansion it just got worse in my opinion.
