The thread about martial arts novels got me wanting to read the different books again. Then I started wondering why they never made a MMO set in WuXia world. Than I came across this game, never played it but it seem it could be ok. It's free to play so I'm downloading it right now. Anybody actually have any experience with it? http://9dragons.acclaim.com/ Gameplay. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CeV47OyFwUM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CeV47OyFwUM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
It's funny you mention it. I just started playing this about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I love it. I have two characters one is a Shaolin, and the other is Wu-Tang. If you join on the Asura server, I will help you out a little bit. I can help you out more if you are a white clan(Shaolin, Wu-Tang, League of Beggar's clan.) than if you are Dark Clans, but even if you chose the dark way I can help you a little. The game is a lot of fun, and your character starts out pretty lowly in their martial arts, but I think they paced the advancement nicely. Even if you chose another server, I can try and answer any questions you have. the graphics are really great for a free online game. The martial arts moves are pretty authentic, and some of the quests are fun. The worst part about the game is that some people pay for these called roars and which allows them to broadcast their texts messages over the entire server, and they often are very immature stupid things. That is easy enough to ignore though, and if you are a white clan I can get you an invite to the hero-league I'm in which seems like really cool people. The game is a lot of fun, and kind addictive in that game playing kind of way. I won't be on today, or at least not until much later, but they are having time period today where it is 3x exp. for everything. That will be a huge help to you starting out, and if you can take advantage of that it would be great. Here are a couple of tips for a beginner. 1. If you find Blood essence don't sell it to a merchant. Set up your own stand and don't sell it for less than 500k. 2. If you get Korean Ginseng from a quest you can sell it at your own stand for about 300k. That's just some things that are easy to sell yourself short on early in the game.
Hmm, I'm about to give it a try, and I'll try to be on the Asura server. BTW, how is the game like? The only MMO I've ever played really is WOW, is it very group/raid focused like WOW (I had to quit once raiding with a clan start being like a job). Or is it like some of the other RPGs where there are more things you can do independently, is there an "end game" and how is the PVP? I've being waiting for a game like this game for a while, and for free pretty excited to atleast try this for free.
Especially at the early levels where I'm kind of still at, you can grind it out solo, and some group fighting against mobs. You certainly don't have to get into a group, but you can. At later levels there are group quests from what I understand. But I don't believe the game is raid intensive or set up for that at all. I believe that you could go all the way to the highest level without ever being in a group and just doing stuff solo. There isn't really an end game that I know of. Just trying to move up levels, and acquire good gear and weapons. Most of the time it's you finding things to fight, and then fighting them. There are a sufficient number of quests to do which often involve you fighting things. PvP is done in different ways. There are duels, which are agreed to, and there are certain areas that are PvP areas where people can just kill you, or vice versa. There are also clan wars from time to time, or the people who run the game will set up events where it's a game for dark clans vs. white clans. Those are fun, but usually happen for higher levels than I am. The league I belong to doesn't do random Player killing, but they will hunt and kill other player killers. If you get on Asura let me know what your name is and what clan you are going to join, and if you would like, I will help you out with some gear or money, or help you kill things or whatever.
I'm trying to figure out what happened, but for some reason the interface isn't recognizing my keyboard commands. Everything has to be entered through the on-screen interface which isn't a big deal, but I can't buy anything because it won't let me enter a number.
Hey Franchise, I've started playing it and so far I like it. Though I've decided against the Asura server as it was PK. The reason being that one of the things (besides the end game) that drove me away from WOW was the frustration I get from being on a PVP server. Since I work full time, most days I set aside maybe only an hour or two to play the game, and sometime if you get into one of those PVP ganking situations, I've wasted two hours trying to do a quest and couldn't. However, I was wondering are there PVP arenas like WOW. Thanks for your help.
That happened to me before. There are two possible reasons. One is that after you've been talking to someone it automatically pops up the talk screen so your commands may not be interacting on the interface but instead on the dialogue box. The other possible reason, I don't know, and I usually enter the game again and the problem is solved. That happened to me at first but hasn't happened in a while. Are you on Asura. If so and you want some help let me know your character's name and I will try and help you out a little especially if you are in one of the white clans.
I understand. I wouldn't have joined Asura if I'd realized it was PK. I just saw it had the smallest population and joined it. Hopefully the league I am in will protect me against PKing, because that's kind of their specialty, but if not, I will have to quit and start from scratch on the Nirvana server. I think in Hefei there might be some arena type areas for PvP, but I'm not 100% sure. It might be that the Blood Plain is an arena type area for all servers because it is on Asura, but I don't know the difference between the Asura server and the others. If I end up reaching higher level and keep getting trounced becaus of PK then I will have to start over. That will be a bummer.
Hmm, maybe once I get to good enough of level I'll look into arena PvP. BTW, my handle on the Nuvana server is CaiTong2.
I actually went to Nirvana server. I don't like PK ervers in games because it inevitably gets overrun with "LEET KEWL" types who think it's the height of hilarity to run around PKing everyone they can and then talking $h!t to you about it. I'll stay on the friendly server. Been really fun so far. Graphicas are very well done for a free game. Sound is nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done.
