The Rockets "Monday To-Do List" on Free Agent PGs

Jamal Crawford stats (restricted) - chicago, Jannero Pargo - cleveland, Mike james (restricted) - detroit, jon barry - denver, kenny anderson - ind, keyon dooling - lac, doug overton - does it really matter?, damon jones - mil, Courtney alexander (restricted), shammond williams, charlie ward - SA, mo pete (restricted) - Toronto (i know he's not a pg, but "think of the possiblities, max", rod strickland, chris whitney, steve blake.

I like Crawford (scored 50 in a game & ranks fifth in 3pts made) stats, Damon Jones, Keyon Dooling, and Kenny Anderson, and Charlie Ward in that order. (daniels would be my other dark horse pg, but i want to keep it under wraps as i hope the rockets do to, and sign him and jones and have a solid three pg rotation and then get a solid pf/c with our TE.) Thoughts, suggestions, criticisms...

Keep yr head up doc rocket and big e chillin' in LA with Rudy T!

just b/c he scored 50 doesent mean he is good. Look at his shooting precent. We dont need crawford. Go for DJ or Mike J.

Tony Delk scored 50 in a game once. Let's get Crawford and Delk, can anyonebeat us?

I like Janner Pargo as a backup option. TREMENDOUS shooting touch, and actually handled PG duties very well towards the end of the season with the Bulls.

If we trade Lue for Daniels, I would love to add that guy as a backup. I think he can REALLY blossom on a team with a good big man.

Can someone give me the knocks on Dooling? We have discussed the pros and cons of alot of different pgs over the past couple weeks (all mediocre) and while Dooling has been mentioned I have yet to hear much about his game. I must admit that I do not follow the clippers enough to proclaim him as the savior (which seems to be what we are searching for in a pg) of this team. However I do know that watching him against us, when he entered the game he always made an impact. He can shoot from the outside, albeit streaky but always lit us up, high energy and is not scared to drive the ball inside either. He also entered the league with a tremendous amount of upside. I know the obvious knock is gonna be his 3pt%, however there is more he brings to the table. Will someone offer some insight??

I wonder if some sort of three team trade would work with the Bulls and Hornets in which the Bulls give up their outstanding young point guards to us and NO in exchange for Baron Davis, and we take on an ugly contract in return.

I haven't tried to piece it together on realgm, because, among other things, Crawford would be an S&T. But it seems like it could be a seed for an interesting scenario.

I don't see the hornets moving Baron Davis. He's the heart of soul of that team. Mashburn however has a big fat "For Sale" sign around his neck.

Jason Terry for Taylor or TE is another option. I think something is in the works especially if we can get Terry and Henderson for Taylor and TE would match up also.

You either hate Mo Taylor beyond logic or you see something I surely don't. Jason Terry is a less skilled, less athletic Steve Francis who is coming off of a $6.8m final year of contract season. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective and like Franicis is a 2 trapped in a 1's body.

Further, I'm so confident that Terry is not a JVG player, that I'll buy you dinner for two at your favorite restaurant if Terry ever winds up a Rocket while Van Gundy is here. :)

I don't think so. Sura is a free agent. If they trade Terry, the Hawks wouldn't have ANY guards. The wouldn't have a pg or a sg on their roster. Maybe they can move over one of their draft picks: Josh Childress or Josh Smith to the two guard, but they'd still be dangerously thin in the backcourt.

Dooling is horrible inconsistent and is poor from long range, a terrible fit.

Jason Terry has a lot of similarities to a less talented Francis, except Terry is a significantly better spot up shooter.

JT wouldn't help the defense, but offensively he would be just fine playing off Tmac and Yao. Sure I'd take him for the TE, I would bet Van Gundy would to.

I don't think Atl would take for just for the TE though, unless they got something else of substance.
