Sometimes its best to get away, rather than sign with your home team. Fans do not understand. Probably why Josh Jones just signed w/Baltimore
Someone with more football acumen than me can probably answer this. How important is elite safety play in DeMeco's system?? I feel like they probably have a master list of all the safeties in the league broken down by tier and valuation. However, you have to decide which tier and skillset fits the system the best, because resource allocation is perhaps even more important than the actual players themselves. So with that being said, does DeMeco's system require elite safety play to be effective, or do we really just need someone that's able to diagnose and thrive in this particular situation?? And based on those answers, which safety that's left on the FA market best fits us both from a skill perspective and a value perspective?
Cj Henderson has allowed a passer rating of over 100+ when the Panthers had a solid pass rush. I'd rather have rookie year Kareem Jackson
Go back and look at the 1st Colts game when Ward/Petrie were both out if you want to see the importance of S play in Ryans system. Or look at Hamilton in the Ravens playoff game.
I really hope they sign this guy. I would feel a lot more comfortable with a CB room of Stingley/Odukah/Henderson/King/Draft pick in the 4th type developmental guy. (Stiggers?)
I think CJ Henderson has some upside. He was on some of the very worst teams in the NFL, and has had different defensive coordinators in every single year of his career. He can benefit from playing in a scheme more suitable to his skillset while being in a more stabilized setting.
If the D-line generates the pass rush we we expect this year, defending over the top and blitzing will be less important for the safeties while tackling becomes more important.
Potential = ain’t done ****. Okudah/Henderson going on their 3rd team in their short careers. Better hope the new pass rush gets home!
