Still, would have waited til draft day. You never know who falls. 1 thing is certain. Half this board will go insane when they see the list of who is available at 23.. too many good options ppl wanted. Imagine if Bowers or Murphy falls…
Social media has lead to a huge increase in the number of absolute clout chasers who do nothing but post eye emojis and things like "not done yet..." that are so vague and have no consequences for being wrong.
Simmons still available and so is Quandre Diggs. Hope they sign one of them. Handful of CBs available too. I don't know if he fits Demeco's defense, but I'd like Calais Campbell. Veteran, shouldn't cost a ton, 1 year deal type guy but can still push the pocket.
So the Texans just extended the timeline for the Deshaun Watson trade. I one time remember seeing the breakdown of all the players the Texans have acquired that have a link to the Cleveland return (of course many are partial, as other assets have been attacked to make deals work), nevertheless without the Cleveland compensation the trade or acquisitions could not be made. The Texans have made some amazing maneuvers to drastically improve the team. And this is another really good move. They move out of the 1st round where there are apparently only around 15 guys with true first round grades. And move into a spot where they have a cluster of players they are targeting. Notice how the Texans keep giving guys 1, 2, and up to 3 year deals. And aren’t jumping into the cap hell fire by overpaying anyone. So they understand that they need to have quality depth to step in after guys walk away.
I really don't want to imagine that happening. I'm hoping they go early so I don't puke when #23 comes around. Haha. I just hope nobody in our division gets Bowers. If he lives up to the hype he will be a huge difference maker on any offense for years to come.
Well... since I guess it is not an option anymore.... I would have been all over trading up in the first to get Quinyon Mitchell (esp. if he fell to the 12 - 14 range). Maybe Texans are high on Max Melton... who knows
I'm going to keep pimping for Calais Campbell. PFF grade of 80 last year. He was the best on the Falcons in everyone's favorite "pass rush win rate" stuff. 7 sacks.
Always be weary of the old man in a young man's game. That would be a great signing at the right price, for one year.
Derek Barnett had a PFF grade of 86.2 last year, and we already know that he fits in well in our current defense. For the same amount of money, I'd rather have Barnett. https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/derek-barnett/11769
