I can’t stand when he shoots us out of the game. That possession where he went one-on-one with Fox was unacceptable—getting stripped like that was tough to watch. I get that there are moments when he plays well for us, but in close games, he always seems to resort to hero ball, and it’s frustrating.

He keeps the ball secure but is not a natural playmaker, nor does he have the size to see over people and help his vision out. The result is that he's not good at lead passes on the break, nor is he good at throwing oops.

But I've come to terms with who he is. He wins us more games than he loses, especially when he's not slumping. It's either that or have Jalen or Amen at point guard, and I dunno if that's gonna be any good

I think when they told Fred to play off-ball more, he thought that meant to try to score more.

Fred is great honestly, he just needs to do a little less of everything except catch and shoot 3's and defense. This season is a great (and maybe last) opportunity for him to average 10 assists. He should take advantage of that.

Guys its one lose after very strong games and you attack FVV... This Team is a good Team and The game against Sacramento is only one game. The stats was not good... yeah but Houston had a bad night, there was the Ref factor and the factor, that they hit above any average´s their 3 Point shots and it was only 9 Point diff. One more thing: Tari and Amen had not their best games too.

Fred takes some questionable shots at times. I don’t mind it when he’s off to a hot start, but when he’s 2-7 or 2-8 and he’s still taking heat check type shots, that gets annoying.

That being said, I do think we don’t appreciate him enough. He does a great job running the offense and keeping control of the ball as our point. We can’t just throw anyone in that role and be this team that we are today. Sheppard couldn’t run this team as well as FVV (I have hopes that he can even really and obviously he’s a rookie so there’s no reason to think he could right this second). I just mean that we take the little things that FVV does for granted, in my opinion.

Fred has been great. My only complaint is on the nights where his shot is off he should take less of them.

Your team my team talk is killing me. IT IS A TEAM ITS ON THE NAME FFS.

    team
    /tiːm/
    noun
A group of players forming one side in a competitive game or sport.

If someone has to OWN the team than it is fans, normally. In Americas it is a guy called Fertitta or smh.

Guess we trying to develop fred's game...
We clearly have talented young players who would benefit from increased opportunities and shot attempts.
Yes he was good against okc but he also took a bad shot in the end but brooks saved us with that mid range shot.

I dunno, it seemed Green wasted half the shot clock himself and at that point FVV had to either run a play in under 12 seconds or try and get around Fox solo. Assuming it’s the possession I’m thinking of. Also, I kind of think it is his team. Alpi and others are the future, but he is the steady rock right now, the veteran leader who performs consistently (or more consistently than others on the team) on both ends of the floor, night in and night out. Fred has hit more big shots to keep us in games than anyone else. Don’t mistake that for game winners. I’m talking about when we need a shot to go down, Fred has hit more of those than anyone else.

it is Fred’s team and that’s why we’re doing so well. You don’t hand the keys to the Porsche to your 20 year old son just because he is the future man of the house.

If Jalen Green didn't suck most of the time it would be his team.

There are no good options to take shots late for us aside from Sengun, and even he's been kind of erratic this year. I'm enjoying the season for what it is, but it's a glaringly obvious long term problem.

Rockets are trying to win games not develop players.

We play the best players period.

This thread is a PERFECT illustration of how foolish it is to focus on just one game.

Sure, it wasn't his greatest game against Sacramento.
But the game before that didn't he score THIRTY EIGHT (38) points against league leaders OKC as he powered us to a win??

    Like, seriously....

Yeah, blaming FVV for this loss doesn't make sense.

The problem isn't Fred. The problem is that there isn't a single reliable scorer on this team. If he had someone he could rely on to pass the ball to, you better believe he would pass it more often. But even Sengun has been abysmal around the rim this year. Jalen is varying wildly between looking like a league MVP candidate to looking like he belongs in the G League. Jabari is probably our best shooter and he's just barely gotten back to around 36% from three.

Our team has been amazing - but we don't have a single reliable scorer. I have to think that Sengun's splits will go back up. The only explanation I have for his decreased efficiency numbers is that he is exerting so much more effort on defense. And if that's it, then likely it's more stamina issues with him and he'll continue to improve in that regard and eventually we'll see him back to form or even better than he was. But right now? He just isn't the guy he was last year on offense. And it's only been forgivable because his defense has improved by leaps and bounds, he's rebounding better than ever and he's still racking up assists.

I was really hoping we'd see a considerably more consistent Jalen this year, because we desperately need a go-to scorer, but that just hasn't been the case. I'm not sure how they're going to resolve that issue, but that's the next thing that has to be addressed. I don't even care if they address it by the deadline. I can watch this scrappy group play out the season to better assess what we have. But if somebody doesn't step up and become a reliable scoring option than they're going to have to look for one.

Right now, I am eyeing Ant Edwards (the Wolves seem to have regressed substantially and are currently the 11th seed in the West, and, additionallly, he has stated in press conferences that they are having chemistry issues), Devon Booker (we know we're in the best position, but currently they're playing a bit too well), and DeAaron Fox (the Kings seem stuck in limbo). Otherwise, Trae Young could possibly become available again (can our defensive strengths overcome his defensive shortcomings?).

After that, there are the less desirable guys. The guys who are either too old, too injury prone, or just not quite all-star calliber . I'd put LaMelo Ball at the top of that list. He's been injury prone but I think he would be a fantastic fit otherwise. Zach Lavine. Lauri Markannen. Brandan Ingram. CJ McCollum. Jimmy Butler.

There are some 2025 free agents I find interesting as well. Ingram again. I don't want to give up a significant trade package for him, but if we could clear room and pick him up on a reasonable deal then that's somewhat interesting to me. Jimmy Butler again. Same thing. Myles Turner. I doubt he would be interested since Sengun is our starter, but he sure would be interesting as a big that could spread the floor. It would help a lot in lineups with Amen.
