I think he's predicting a lil too much for the Rockets as far as seeding in the west. But i like his optimism. :D

Kenny (NYC): Hey...almost no one picked the Rockets to make the playoffs this season. They are currently #12 in ESPN NBA power rankings. Still think they won't squeeze into the 2nd season after it's all said and done?

Fred Carter: (3:40 PM ET ) Kenny, shame on you. You are not watching NBA 2Night. If you did, you would know I picked them. Legler and I have a bet that they will do better than Phoenix. They will probably finish 5 or 6 and even compete for the fourth spot. Please watch NBA 2Night.

Roy(Houston): Hey,Mr.Carnter I'm a big Rockets fan and I was wondering how can Yao develop into a good player if Mobley and Francis continue to dominate the ball.

Fred Carter: (4:02 PM ET ) You sound like everyone else in the world! He will come along fine. Rudy knows how to play the game. They are giving him the ball. I like to see him get the ball directly and just go to work in the paint. Three times a half is enough. Houston will make the playoffs and beat the Suns.. go Rockets. :D

We might be competing for the fourth spot? Dallas, Sacramento, LA, and San Antonio? C'mon Fred.

San Antonio isn't looking so hot. LA may never be the same again.

The Rockets can compete with anyone.

Umm, LA is already in a big hole. San Antonio isn't playing well. Duncan may turn it around, but you never know... SA never beat you with talent as much as defense and chemistry, and it's not there so far. Just because something happened last year doesn't mean it's going to happen this year.

Typical Fred Carter. I like his optimism, but about 6th seed is more realistic IMO.

Agree 110% - I'm not about to risk getting my hopes dashed by expecting anything more than the #8 seed. Let's wait till the All-Star break to predict anything more, IMO.

If Rox can grab the win theu should get, Rox will be a contender for the 4th spot. There are probably 6 teams in the League right now that Rox will have difficulty beating. All other teams, Rox can beat if they play consistently like right now.
So far, LA and SA are losing to not so good teams, and 1/8 of the regular season has passed!

Well I for sure am not surprised. I am on record on this board for painfully explaining why we are that good. If most of us can get pass our record last year and stop listening to the so called experts who know very little about the team. How ridiculous should it be for us to be top 4? Back in draft day, I said we had the best 5 rotation in the league and we are now seeing that that is going to be the case. We have the best guard tandem in the league. We had 45 wins two years ago and this team is way better, anyhow you look at it.

At the same time we see Spurs with some structural problems, we see Dallas hungry for Lewis and the Lakers are only going to play their best in the playoffs. So why would a deep and talented team like ours be in the class of the Suns and Wolves and not with the Mavs and Spurs?
