Did anyone hear Steve's postgame interview with Jim Peterson. Peterson asked Francis about Sacramento coming into town and Steve said, "We're going to light a fire under their ass." Now I'm not sure what that means but I guess he means the Rockets are going to take it to the Kings.

The quote was repeated several times on the Rockets Recap Show on 610.

A good start would be reducing these turnovers. I thought Steve did excellent tonight getting other team mates involved and hiting his open 3 pointers. He seems to have more accuracy in open 3 pointers than contested 2 pointers.

Gene, not Jim. Jim is the other guy, Jim Foley.

what's even funnier is when steve was talking trash after the mavs game b/c donnie was using a zone against him...then, what do the rockets do the next game? play zone.

Trash talking won't do us any good. It can take away the focus from what we need to do. We must try to overcome our weaknesses. There is no need to fire up the opposition, they already have our number.

    He's right.

We'll light a fire under their ass and they'll light up the scoreboard.

Yeah, I think this was a very poor choice of words. Anytime I ever hear anyone say they are going to "light a fire under someone's ass" it usually means inspire them to do better. Oddly enough, if the Kings take Steve's comment to be the trash-talking that he intended it to be, Steve will probably end up being correct. :(

it's a weird choice of words he used but i certainly don't have a problem with him trying something to snap this hold they have on us.

now all we can ask for is him backing it up with good play tuesday.

I don't understand why we have so much trouble against the Kings... Hell, I cant even remember the last time we beat them. Didn't they sweep the series last year? As for stevies' comment; it's to see his enthusiasm and you cant really call it trash talking because Webber said he would KILL us every game for not trying harder to land him and he's kept that promise.

Well it worked tonight, so I will call the Sac game also. Rockets will win by at least 5.

After Sac is three easier games (Grizz, Clips, Heat) and then Indiana. Time to get on a roll - 5 game win streak.

Mayebe Steve wants the Kings to play hard the whole game, in which case they would probably win by 60 points or so. Sometimes it looks like Duke vs. little college out there...

I think Steve was doing a few things. First, I think he was playing to the team -- we have a young, emotional team. The team had to be pumped after this win. It's evident that we can hang with anyone when we are playing an intelligent offense well, like tonight. If we can do that, we can win. What better way to play up to the team and assert your confidence in yourself and the team.

Also, Steve was OBVIOUSLY playing to the fans. I was down there near the court where the interview was. There were probably 300 or 400 fans standing there, and we were all really excited and cheering -- you could feel it in the air. We were cheering for everything Steve said, and when he said that, we all went nuts. It was cool :)

I think Steve is right in saying the Rox can up the ante against the SacQueens.

CAT being back is a BIG PLUS. Our two guard tandem is about as good as any backcourt. Let's look at the matchups shall we?

Jackson vs. Francis: Totally Francis. Bobby Jackson's good, but Francis is BETTER.

Christie vs. Mobley:Good defense vs. good offense... take you're pick, I think we're even here.

Wallace vs. Thomas: I like the way Thomas has been playing... I give this one to Thomas.

Webber vs. Rice: Webber is always tough... hats off to him.

Divac vs. Yao: This here is the most interesting matchup. My gut tells me Yao will get more calls in his favor (home court adv) and less likely to get suckered by Divac's tricks (having played him once already). If Yao tallies higher point and rebounding totals than Divac. We have an edge here. This is the X-factor, IMO.

Bench - What can I say Houston is scoring some 20+ over last few games. Sac bench is always strong. But the key I think may be foul trouble. If Yao can stay fresh and out of foul trouble, then bring on Pollard.

I think we have a legitimate shot at a BIG W this Tues.

And we still are. I guess Rudy can't cut it by manning up on AI. :p

If Steve can back it up with 30/6/5 against Sac town, then he'll be my favorite trash talker. :)

That pumpes me up bigtime!!! A more motivated Rockets team is a more effective Rockets team. Bring on the Queens. Rockets have a 7-1 home record, and the best way to validate that is to beat a quality team in the Kings.

This reminds me of the famous Doug Collins quote (as best as I can remember):

"The key for tonight's team is to score more points than the other team"

I wish I was able to be there. I heard the crowd go nuts on T.V. but I did not Know what it was for. Then I heard his comment on the fan feed back on 610 and figured that's why.

You are right, he was obviously playing to the fans. The Guy just came off on a very good win. The adrenalin was running through his veins and he was enjoying it. Let it be, he was having some fun. The fans obviously enjoyed it.

Well the ones that wrere there. I enjoyed it but would have loved it more if I was there. :(

I think he could have chose his words a little better. But I'm sure all the fans knew what he was saying.

I like the fact that Steve said that, mainly because I think Steve believes in it. This also puts any controversy to rest between Yao Ming and Steve. I think the fact that Steve would make that statement is because he knows we have a chance now, with Yao Ming. We barely lost to NO with terrile playing. Beat SA, beat Philly, was competetive in Dallas till the last 4/5 min, this is a diffrent team, a dangerous team, where Sac was 2 years ago, and we have a chance to be where Sac is now.

In short BELIEVE IT ...... AGAIN
