6 TOs, 4 Assists along w/ 26 points. The only threat on offense, but never got anyone else involved. What can be done w/ this offense that Rudy is doing through Francis?
I have no idea. Is it Francis? Is it Rudy? Is it both? Is it neither? Too hard to tell from the garbage out there.
SF lovers: He's our leading scorer/rebounder/assist man. He got his season averages. What do you expect? How can you blame him? Blame YM first.
Francis has no trust in his teammates that's why he doesn't pass the ball.We still have to stick to a basic plan throughout the game and I don't see that.
It takes teamates hitting the shots to be able to trust them. Jordan in his younger days puts up 30 shots a game becuz he feels if he doesn't shoot, they loose since no one else can put it in the basket. Steve is prolly going through the same thing, if his teamates are hitting their shots, he'll pass it, if not he would feel tenative to pass up a shot he might make to some who might miss. Just my 2 cents.
I have no problem with SF taking a lot of shots. But at least he should try to move the ball first. Did you watch the game? Do you know what happened? SF brought the ball up, dribbled/or off a pick from someone, shot the ball. Every time.
Why trust steve? His shooting pencentage really that respectable? He gaines his stats bascally due to more shots. He wants to play PG to dominate the ball so he can take more control of the ball to create opportunities to shoot rather than pass. Considerint his position, His style goes aganist the team concept.
If cat played PQ, he would post similar stats like steves'. Believe it or not, steve is not better than cat on-one-one. and the reason steve gains all star recognition is mainly due to his one-on-one ability (he has more chances to control the ball to do the one-one-one as a PG, his stats go up accordingly). There are many players who at least have the potential to achieve steves' stats if they want. They just do not want to do it for the sake of team play. Also their positions do not allow them to dominate the ball like steve does to achieve that.
Yao Ming had 5 turnovers to Steve's 6 in nearly half the minutes. And a center doesn't control the ball nearly as much as a point guard. But, OH NO, that's STEVE'S fault! He wasn't passing to Ming enough! I mean, Yao needs the ball in his hands, right?
I did not watch the game. Tell me how many of steves' passes are quality passes. It will be the answer.
lol...... Steve had to step up since no one else could score. Yao couldn't score. He got blocked....AT LEAST 3 times by a 6-10 guy who barely plays. Cuttino always did OK but is having attitude problems...Griffin was out. Rice was out. Posey...airball. Terence Morris...not much he can do but try to get himself involved. Just hope that he gets a pass and makes the shot. Moochie....can't create anything. Bostjan, Collier, and Hawkins haven't played in a LONG time...and they play against the best team. Mo Taylor...too tired...too short. Cato....I love his hustle but still can't score. SO BASICALLY...Steve Francis had to shoot. No one ever thinks about.........THE MAVERICKS DEFENSE??? That must have been a factor. We need one more consistent shooter on our team. JUST 2 GAMES. I hope we make the playoffs. Just beat the Pistons.
Damn right he does. I seriously think Yao needs 25-30 touches a game. Yeah, this ISO offense really works for the Rockets huh. Doubling Yao creates ball-movement. I don't know if you followed the Rockets during the glory years, but ball movement was a big part of their offense. This one-on-one pull-up crap, will lead the Rockets to the lottery. Every opposing team's announcers say the Rockets should use Yao Ming more.
Hmm...maybe it would help if Yao got down the court a little faster and if the opposing players weren't denying him the ball. He is a little tired.
Jordan was not and still isn't a point guard. Besides, in his early days, he didn't have anyone to turn to. He was the offense, It is not so with us. Blame Yao for his poor shooting, because he is in a rut, but he still needs more touches. Francis is a selfish player. I don't think you could ever sompare him to Jordan.
Maybe it would help if his teammates could slow down the game a bit and not get into a fast jump shooting contest with Mavs.
i can understand people wanting yao to get the ball more, i feel he should too, but this whole run it through yao stuff is starting to piss me off (sean elliott especially). ming is freakin tired as hell, he says it all the time, he has shot 39% for 10 freakin games now, he's tired. why no matter how ineffective he plays do people always want him to have the ball more. sean elliott just can't understand why we don't run the offense through our second best player who is tired and ineffective lately. give it to yao, if he's one on one he'll score, otherwise he'll make the pass to an open teammate says sean. oh like the last 3 games where he has had a lot of single coverage (almost exclusive single coverage) and shot like 5/14, 5/11, 2/6. we should just keep right on feeding him and let raef block him some more? and what REALLY pissed me off is he said he was going crazy watching the lakers game b/c ming was fighting out there, but with one hand behind his back b/c we wouldn't give him the ball. he took 14 freaking shots, that's plenty when your guarding shaq all night, and what's more he only hit 5, and the last 2 were a layup and dunk off of great passes from steve. shaq shut him down time and time again when they went one on one and yao kept fading away and yet we should just keep giving it to him. he had to bust his ass all day to guard shaq and admitted it wore him out (and he did a great job guarding him), now you want him to have to run the whole offense, brilliant. especially with steve having such an off night and yao being on fire. i love yao on this team but this whole he can do no wrong attitude is annoying. bring up his 5 to's, well people must have put him in bad positions, no one else on the team ever gets this consideration, it's just 5 to's, they suck. how about some damn balance and not this absurd double standard.
Why do Rocket draft a center if they simply play ISO offense. It is a waste of talent. Yao would be better off in Golden State if that the case. The point is, A center oriented offense will win championship. An ISO offense will give you season high points. Which one would you like. Start thinking as a team, not individual!!!!
LOL. How could you defend the ISO offense? If it's called offense... It was not the loss that's bad, it's the way we played. Yeah Steve/Cat could shoot but did they have to do it without the other 4 guys touching the ball every possession? Couldn't they pass the ball to teammates first? And if teammates are covered, the ball would go back to them anyway and they still could take their usual 20+ shots. It's called ball movement you know.
