We are fast approaching the anniversary of the Francis-Dickerson (et al) trade. There were high expectations that a last run for the playoffs would happen, but Pippen blew up in the Barkley tirade less than 6 weeks later. The Pippen trade and the ill feelings he generated dominated this BBS. The team struggled as the team adjusted and it was quite dismal in the early season. Dream went down and after a bit more of a struggle the Rocket Ship began to right itself. Then the Barkley injury happened and the mood of the team and its fans dipped again. As the young players figured out the NBA and Walt recovered from whatever ailed him, the team closed with a flourish. Lets be positive about the situation because things could be worse and the sun will come up tomorrow regardless if any new players join the team. Mango ------------------ 1. This team is headed in the right direction. If Cato plays like he did last preseason we could make the playoffs. I would also like to see Dream go out on a winning note. I'm not sure how to respond, great post in itself, letting alone the absence of the M word. I wonder just how we would have went if Pip had pulled his finger out and just played and Chuck and Dream suffered no injuries, surely more than 30 wins, maybe 50 and for me the second round of the playoffs. it's nice to dream, but then we would have miss out on Tank 2000. Nice post exotic fruit. Smeg ------------------ Discombobulation Imminent
Wouldn't it be funny if the Rockets signed Mo Taylor on the anniversary. Man I hope Mo Taylor and Steve Francis get along. Chem-is-try is im*por*tant. I hope Dream doesn't get in the way of Cato and Mo Taylor this year. That's one thing that annoys be about Mo Taylor... he'll never board like SirCharles. I wonder if Mo Taylor has ever gone on poor shooting spells like that. I doubt it. Maybe CD can teach Mo to dish out of the double team to Walt and then booommm-yowwww the 3. Are you trying to manage expectations w/ the Mo Taylor rumors here? ------------------ I've posted so much that what I say must be true. The latest on Maurice Taylor
Thanks for the very deep recap/summary Mango. Its amazing how much this franchise has transformed in the past 11-12 months. A year ago, this team had three future hall-of famers in the frontcourt, two promising yet role-player like rookies in the backcourt (with Mobes playing PG) and a three headed monster of Price/Drew/Maloney. While we were all excited about contending and going for that one last title shot once again, we were sick and tired about that monotonous offense Rudy T was so unwillingly set to part with. Now, the players are having fun and the team is run'n gun. The present is exciting, the future looks promising, and the past is memorable. Damn, its great to be a Rockets fan! Achebe, It seems that many expect that he would be THE DIFFERENCE MAKER for the Rockets. The Rockets got their difference maker almost a year ago and Falk's client isn't a difference maker now or likely to be in the future. Mango ------------------ 1. Exactly Mango. Like it or not, the Rockets already have the integral piece to their title hopes. The franchise does not hinge upon the addition of a mediocre addition. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Mango, Hell, everyone's a difference maker. Remember the difference that Pippen made when the ball bounced off of his foot? Crisco, Are you saying that the Rockets have a verbal agreement w/ Mo Taylor? ------------------ I've posted so much that what I say must be true. The latest on Maurice Taylor
"Are you saying that the Rockets have a verbal agreement w/ Mo Taylor?" Yes, and I think it's STAY AWAY!!! ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
This is more like it. Wheew we...I almost forgot. Mango, do you, or does anybody no the exact date of this most important anniversary. I'll need to know ahead of time so I can have a full botlle of Scotch on hand. ------------------
Achebe, My definition of DIFFERENCE MAKERS that have logged minutes in the NBA: Vancouver: SAR (more so than Falk's client) Seattle: Payton Portland: Wallace Kings: Webber Lakers: Shaq Kobe Clippers: Odom (more so than Falk's client) Utah: Malone (Stockton is falling off faster than Karl) Denver: McDyess Dallas: Dirk Mike F SA: Duncan Admiral Houston: Francis Minnesota: Kevin G Bucks: 3 solid players, none are really elite. Det: Chicago: Brand Cleveland: Atlanta Mutombo Orlando: Hill T-Mac (more so than Falk's client) Miami: Zo Jones Hornets: Bullets: Philly: Iverson Nets: Stephon NY: Spree Houston Boston: I probably missed a team or a few players, but Falk's client doesn't make the difference the players named above can. Achebe: You managed to use Mo Taylor 6 times in one post in a thread that was Mo free. Shame on you! Mango: What did you mean more so than Falk's client? Who's Falk's client in Vancouver or Orlando? You consider Dirk Nowitzki more elite than Ray Allen? ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated.
