Stevie is ranked 14th in the sportingnews.com's fantasy top 100.....other rockets are Cuttino Mobley 56th, and Mo Taylor 89th.....The closest rookie to Francis being BRAND at 23......All other players in the top 3 are at least gonna start their 4th year, and Stevie is gonna start just his second...

Wally is better then all of them, he does more for his team.

Rebounds, passes, plays good defense. The man is a real player.

    LilFrancis,

If I have to explain it to you then I am wasting my time.

Basketball is a team sport, and Wally is a better all aroung player then both of those you mentioned...it ain't even close.

DaDakota, I respectfully have to disagree with you. Wally may be much better than Taylor at this point, but he ain't that much better than Mobley. Mobley fits with the Rockets better than nearly anyone else in the league fits in with their team, IMO.

DaDakota let me ask you this. If you had to pick a player to start your team who would you take?

    Lewis -
    Mobley-
    Walker-
    Wally-

Wally won't be half the player Rashard Lewis will be and you know it.

    LilFrancis,

Wally is better now. Lewis really hasn't done much, except for a decent playoff series versus the Jazz. But he's no dynamo. Wally has proven more, is more fundamental, shoots better, passes better-look, he's just a better small forward. And you seem to presume that he's through developing, and that Lewis' potential is boundless.

As far as including Walker in the equation, he's a power forward. Disregarding position, I'd still rather have Mo Taylor because I think he fits our system better (number 8 needs the ball WAY too much)

Don't anybody ever suggest again that we sign Tracy Murray to a deal.

He wouldnt of gone to UH. Lewis in my opinion is a better player than Wally. Wally is not better than LEWIS.

Not only is Lewis better than Wally, this is supposed to be a fantasy list, meaning potential and hype should play a significant role...no way in hell Wally should beat out Lewis as a fantasy pick...

Then again, Sporting News is also the magazine whose racist editorial staff has for years devoted 2-3 pages out of about 90 to NBA basketball.

    Sound and fury signify nothing.

Give me a player that plays well within the team concept, and I will show you a winner.

Basketball is about winning as a team, if you have a bunch of individuals, you will NEVER win.

Olajuwon took years to learn this, so did MJ, Francis seems to understand already. I am not sure that Mobley or Lewis has it down yet. I am SURE that Wally does.

    Therefore, my position stands.

If I had to take any of those players for one year, I'd take Wally or Taylor. Make it 5 years, and I'd take Lewis.

Mobley is a bit too one dimensional for me (especially in fantasy). Taylor doesn't board enough.

Lewis didn't play *that* well last year, although I think he showed flashes of potential stardom. He won't, however, play at that level NEXT year.

Don't even mention Walker to me. The man is a cancer on two legs. Here in Boston, the man is *despised*. He actually hurts the team with his horrible shots, selfish play, negligible defense, and constant whining. Comparing Walker to Pippen... Walker is much worse.

Wally can score, board, play defense, and pass. He's not selfish and doesn't take bad shots. Don't disparage fundamentals.

I'd bet you that when all of those players retire, only Lewis will be considered as having a better career than Wally, with Mobley and Taylor at about the same level.

Let's go to the stats, these are last years stats comparing Lewis, Wally, and Mobley.

    Szczerbiak FG.511 3pt.359 FT.826 RB-3.7 Ast-2.8 PPG 11.6

    Mobley FG.430 3pt.356 FT.847 RB-3.6 Ast.2.6 PPG 15.8

    Lewis FG.486 3pt.333 FT.683 RB-4.1 Ast-0.9 PPG 8.2

Wally shot a VERY high percentage, especially for a ROOKIE, rebounded fairly well at SF, and also had several assists a game.

He is a very SOLID NBA player, may not be superstar, but a potential star.

I could care less about fantasy strategies, but I have to warm up for the season with DaDakota for a second....

This is just a stretching exercise. The real season has not begun....so

    ahem...

If you are a coach, and you look at all your players and one as a rare skill, why not try to exploit that over and over. Mobley has a rare NBA skill...he can beat anybody off the dribble. Wally and Lewis simply have not shown any comparable rareness to date for a coach to exploit. Mobley is being instructed to do what he does by Rudy...over and over. It is a play call. It is not necessarily the end-all in what the guy can do.

    ...phew...that workout felt good...how was that Smeggy.<font color="f7f7f7">

    HeyPartner,

I concur about Mobley, that is certainly his role. However, if choosing sides in a MUST win game, I would take the overall abilities of Wally, over the 1 dimensional play of Mobley.

Ah, mind stretching can be fun....bring on the season DANG it.

so, what is better for mind stretching than a good ole "cause and effect" problem.

So, do we really know Mobley is one-dimensional, or was Rudy the cause for only exploiting that one dimension of him, and there is more to come this year as the team matures...

...ooooh...take it easy on that one. We need you fresh for the season DaDakota.

I wouldn't call Mobley 1 dimensional. Yes, he can beat 99% of the players in the NBA off the dribble, but he can also play multiple positions, rebounds as well as guys like Wally...LOL, can play decent defense and can pass the ball. Also, the guy can motivate his teammates and get them fired up...one thing I can not see Wally...LOL...ever doing.
