    That is damb good.

Clyde after all took his blazers to 2 NBA finals.

But the numbers are so similar. Also Francis' numbers are very similar to Grant Hill's number. And the hype over Hill is unbeleivable.

    19pts, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Francis is truly one of the best players in the league, but for some reason the media does not market him, come on every dunk Carter makes goes to the highlight films, all they show of steve is him shooting a mid range jumpshot or a 3 pointer, once in a while they will show a dunk, but not enough of Francis is being marketed. Imagine if Francis was in Chicago? Wow, we would never stop seeing Francis on the highlight films!

Francis' numbers are realy unbeleivably great, considering his age, his potential is up the roof.

You think that somebody with the brash attitude, phenomenal skills and talents of a Steve Francis would be marketed out of the ROOF by the NBA! Especially considering he is in such a big market as Houston. I don't know, the NBA loves to pick and choose their media darlings and I think Francis is going to get treated like a b*stard child much like Isiah Thomas. Remember Isiah was the most dominant player in the late 80s, more so then Bird and Magic and Jordan, explosive, colorful personality and collecting championships and an obvious Hall-of-Famer in the making and the NBA treated him like the plague. Isiah was literally a legend in the making and they treated him like garbage even leaving him off the Dream Team. I don't think Francis will get treated that badly, but you never know with the NBA.

Francis has already been shown the ultimate disrespect when he had to share the ROY with the undeserving Elton Brand.

Francis's numbers will continue to skyrocket
as long as Hakeem is out. I love Hakeem, but it's obvious Francis really free-wheels more while Hakeems injured. He gets into a rhythm early because he has the left side of the floor open, which is Hakeem favorite side to post up also, and this allows him to really, really control the tempo. This guy has more stamina, more toughness, more untapped talent than I've ever seen in a point guard. Im serious.

    I love this kid!

For some reason, it seems that "people" (outside of us of course) don't really like Steve. I don't know why, but I haven't found many people who like him outside of CC.net, hoopstv and Houston fans. According to someone in the CC Chat (can't remember whom . . . sorry) during the Cavs game, the Cavs radio guy was putting down Steve a lot, saying that "every time he gets a compliment, he thinks he's the greatest ever" and such. My roommate, who played ball against Francis while he was at San Jac. hates Steve. He says it's because Steve tries to "do it all himself" on the court . . . Obviously he hasn't seen any of Steve's pro games . . . anyone averaging 7 assists isn't doing it all himself . . .

Did Steve get a bad rap in college? I know he was only on the national spotlight one year . . . Did the draft-night debacle hurt him that much? I dunno . . .

I think alot of fans and media picture steve as the guy with the disgusted look on his face after vancouver drafted him.

I'm convinced that the NBA doesn't like the Houston franchise. I think that they thought someone else should've won those two championships - someone with a larger market / viewing area. I think they also dislike wildcards like Houston... Makes their job harder.

Steve is going to have to really fight to get an All-Star spot. He deserves it now, but he'll have to either fight or play politics to get the vote. I suspect he's better at fighting.

While watching the Rockets on NBA League Pass, the other team's announcers tend to praise Francis and truly admire his game.

The NBA isn't marketing Francis like Vince because Francis isn't scoring 20 points per game. Sure, rebounding guards are nice, but Francis doesn't dish out THAT many assists either. Have you compared his numbers to that of other top-flight point guards? They're not significantly better, and you're not accusing the NBA of a conspiracy to suppress the stardom of Cassell, Brandon, KiddMarbury, etc, all of whom Francis gets more or similar publicity.

I think that most people respect that Francis is very good now, but could be excellent in the future. Some people probably are bothered by his jilting of Vancouver... but he sort of deserves that. And he is cocky... that probably bothers some others.

As for the "Houston" conspiracy.... Houston is only really treated poorly compared to LA, NY, and the franchises with Grade A products. Heck, Houston has the lowest attendance in the league. I don't like the LA/NY bias either, but it's not specifically AGAINST Houston.

Steve has a bad rep around the league to many fans. All the players seem to like him and admire his skills but his draft day antics will be tough to overcome.
I seriously think stevie needs to do what Iverson did last year, play like an animal in the playoffs to get fans to appreciate his game.
Until he gets a chance to showcase himself in the playoffs most peoples perception will not change.

brand did not deserve a split of the rookie award..look closely at the numbers..his are inflated because of the fact he was chicagos only scorer..plus his team won nothing and once the bulls figure out how to put talent around him his numbers will drop dramatically..if u like solid go brand if u like superstar go francis..bottom line.

Brand did not deserve a share in the ROY. The only reason he scored 19 a game was because he was the only guy on the team that ever got the ball in the post, and the only reason he averaged 10 rebounds a game was because he's one of the biggest guys on a team that couldn't hit the ocean standing on the beach.

I remember once Carter had this crummy dunk and it was the 4th or 5th play of the week. Every Franchise dunk this season was better then it.

Haven, all those point guards assists numbers are higher than Steve's only because those guys have player on their teams who can hit shots on a consistent basis. We dont have guys for Steve to pass to who hit their shots consistently and also the kind of offense we run doesnt fare in favor of steve's assists numbers. The offense is more about getting players in position where they can score which doesnt leave a lot of room for assists

Tacoma: Offense isn't the problem for Houston, it's defense. I do agree that the Rocket's system isn't conducive to a point guard racking up assists though. Fine, even if he'd naturally average 8-10 assists per game, those numbers STILL aren't on par with Vince, Kobe, etc...

sorry, I just don't buy into the conspiracy theories. When Stevie is scoring 25 per game and dishing out 10 assists, he'll get his recognition. Right now, he's thought of as an extremely talented young player... and he's been on the cover of a couple of magazines. He'll get his due when he's earned it.

He could easily get 10 assists a game if his teammates would hit their shots at a better clip. Im just trying to point out that the other point guards you mentioned have guys with good shooters who can hit on a consistent basis unlike our STREAK shooters like wiz and Bull
