Did anyone catch Steve's comments after the game. Since this game sucked so much I didn't really waste much time looking at it, but apparently, some of the Rockets tonight were lack-luster. He even suggested that Rudy needed to bench these certain players. I don't know about any of ya'll, but I was kind of glad to hear Steve speak up finally. Like I've said before, Steve is a great player, but he can't do it alone. Some how, some way, I hope in the off season, the team can get someone to help Steve out. ------------------
What exactly did he say? ------------------ "Kenny, The Basketball scientist, Whoo Hoo." Charley B, on TNT
He basically said that some of the guys were lack-luster tonight and looked like they didn't want to play and that if he was the coach, he would have benched these players. ------------------
who saw the game? who was he talking about? Walt? Shandon? Kenny? Mooch? Bull? Mo? couldn't have been Cat, dream or Carlos. ------------------
Francis should just worry about running the fastbreak. To me, he has no right b****ing unless the he starts forcing the speed we all want to see and lackluster performances prevent him from fastbreaking. then...i'm 100% right behind him. Personally, I'd rather hear Shandon b**** at lackluster defense (and be our defensive leader...hakeem can chime in anytime he wants, too) than to hear a PG who can't force a fastbreak b****ing. sheesh. Run, steve, run...Our fastbreak sucks!
From what I saw of the game (I slept through the second half), absolutely nothing would get in the hole for the Rockets. I don't know about lack-luster performances, but nothing would fall for them. ------------------ "Salt Lake City, Utah. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany." --Olaju-Won Kenobi, to young jedi Steve (Fran)'chiseWalker
what really pisses me off is in those "slow" fast-break or delayed fast break or 4-on-3 situation when Steve does his skip - dribble thing and just lets our advantage slip away. Think about what the really smart offensive guards do in that situation -- Payon and Cassell in particular. They rack up points with some penetration to the 10-foot range for a jumper or a dish, if they can't get all the way to the hole. Steve never does that. ------------------
I think I hear your record skipping. I'm glad Steve is complaining. Everyone wants him to be a leader. This is part of it. This year is NOT a contending year so the only really important aspect is growth for our younger guys. Learning to lead means having the confidence to step up and voice concern and Steve is finally doing that and that shows that he is growing. That is the only thing that is important. Fast breaks improve. Defense improves. Players get signed and traded. The bottom line is that these are young players who need to learn on the court, in the locker room, in the huddle and in the real world. Good for Steve. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
Here's Steve's quote from the Chronicle: "We didn't come out energetic enough to play with a team like Miami," Francis said. "There was too much lacking. You could see it the way guys were walking. Some people were like they didn't want to play. If it was up to me, I would have put them on the bench, if I was the coach. I don't know if Coach noticed the way guys were walking and stuff like that. But they really didn't want to play." "Sometimes that happens, I guess. But in my book, that doesn't work. You don't get victories like that." ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
I was at the game, and I can tell you that Hakeem and Cat were the only ones who looked like they came to play. I dont know what the hell Steve is complaining about. His man Timmy is the one that was left wide open for about 300 3-ptrs. ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! To point out individuals or teams that have managed to reach the pinnacle of SUCKINESS!!!!! ----- GIANTS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff, I'm not skipping when JR and many others have noticed how Francis is skipping on the fastbreak. I'm not skipping nearly as much as the Board on average on any day. My skipping is actually constructive, and in fact, just now picked up after 1 1/2 years by the Chronicle. You know, those journalist majors, that which you skip on about all the time. Nothing improves our offense in the nearterm more than improving our fastbreak. Nothing gets us live fans skipping in the stands more than a fastbreak...ain't that right TheFreak! Showtime will get us out. Don't offer me placating platitudes about this not being a "contending year"; this year is the perfect time to practice fastbreaks. Don't offer me smilies. Don't offer me concessions about future, unconsummated trades and undecipherable hieroglyphics. Maybe I'm skipping because I heard Rudy talk about fastbreaks in August '99. Maybe I'm skipping because our boy Francis keeps skipping. The boy has not once shook my world by dribbling amazingly through a maze of defenders in open court...not once! I go to every game wanting to see this....every game. There is nothing I look for more; there is nothing I would pay for more, than to see the horses. Run the horses. Stevie... This is a paying fan's wish, and we all want to see fastbreaks. If you can't take skipping on cc.net Jeff, maybe we should just all start skipping to local talk show radio who are dying for ANY Rockets skipping. yeah....I really want my PG complaining after a 0 assist night....his worst night, yet. Here's a smilie for yeah...
Steve's Chronicle quote is outrageous. I've seen all the home games in the stands. All the road games on TV. I reckon tonight was his worst game. Worst home game of the whole year. (only the boston loss compares) Worst night to be in the Summit all year. Stevie's worst game. And he has the f-ing balls to b**** about the rest of the f-ing guys. Dream played a great game. One of the best I've seen lately. Was Steve whining about Dream? Who, in particular, is Steve talking about?
Look, i didn´t see the game, bus as far as the 0 assists go, it´s hard to get any of them when the team couldn´t hit a shot to save their own lives, isn´t it? Someone who saw the game please tell me if the above fits the situation somehow. And francis comments obviously came out in frustration after being left out of the all-star game. I won´t accept any comments about that being the development of leadership qualities in him. The timing is wrong and it´s too much of a coincidence that he chooses to blast his teammates right now. Now, i want a qualified opinion on this from someone who saw the game: last night REALLY was a lackluster effort by some players, and if that´s the case, WHICH ONES, and if there WASN´T, everyone who praised Francis character and bashed Payton for being a cancer should take a minute to think about what a competitive nature sometimes leads to. My two cents. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... heypartner: Good Lord, man, calm down. I was just pointing out that your post seemed out of context for this thread. We WERE discussing Steve complaining, not the offense. Where the hell is Mango? You can skip all you want but you OBVIOUSLY can't handle someone questioning your postings. Ramble, skip, freak out, act like a nut with a keyboard fixation, whatever. This isn't a vacuum and we all have opinions. Just because I don't agree with yours doesn't make me unable to "handle it". Sounds like it's the other way around. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
oh...the simpleton "good lord man" speech. Jeff, I had more fun writing that post than any post I've written in months. Don't give me the "good lord" comeback That is so lame. just don't respond if you can't respond without taking "what's the problem with you" approach. sheesh! lame! As lame as Francis's "if I were coach" speech.
The battle of the 4000 club, right here in little pooh's post. Awesome. You guys are talking about different things, btw. Heypartner likes to do that though, poor guy. He's begging for someone to yell about the fast breaks w/ him and now he's picked on the resident nice guy in Jeff. Pity. See what you guys not telling us about the trade incites? It wears on you man.
I, too, am astounded by Steve's comments when he had such a poor game. I saw most of the game. Yeah, shots weren't falling, but most everything was coming from the perimeter and there was very little ball movement. Miami played very tough defense and the Rockets played very little. Steve had a terrible game considering his shooting and assists. He led the team in rebounds, but is that what's going to make your team a winner? Rudy continues to baffle me with his rotations. He says we need to play defense, but the only time we had a halfway good defensive team was when Hakeem played. When Hakeem went out at the end of the 1st qtr., we have Mo, KT and Bull or Walt out there. That is a terrible defensive line-up and Rudy loves it. Actually, I think I'm beginning to like that lineup, though, because it will keep us from making the playoffs this year and having to deliver a 1st rounder to Vancouver. If we take out Dream, we should put in Collier or Los to have some semblance of an inside defensive presence. Assuming we are playing to win, of course. For all these fans who are so worked up over Steve not making the all-star team, he doesn't deserve it. He is putting up numbers, but so far, I don't think he makes his teamates better. It would be really difficult to handle the ball as much as Steve does and have fewer assists. He does play well with Cat, but they need to get the rest of the team more involved. Did anyone else notice when Collier came in during garbage time, that he twice set good screens for Steve, then rolled to an open spot, both defenders went with Steve and Steve never even looked at Collier? I don't know what's up with that, but it's not what I call leadership. All that being said, we really can't expect much more because Steve and Cat are soooo young. I just hope they mature in the next one or two seasons and not take three or four. ------------------
I have a feeling that Steve is pulling an Alex(Malcolm McDowell) w/ alot of tape today. ------------------ I keep plugging away, but I just can't get a 3 way to work on realwife.com
This is why I don't post in here that often anymore. Ugh. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
