Jim Rome: "If the NBA were all about Steve Francis we'd have nothing to worry about."

The Jim Rome shows not so bad after all. [IMG]

I'm surprised no one mentioned Francis' comments on Chris Webber. When asked if he was recruiting Webber to come to Houston next season, said Steve:

"A million phone calls. When the NBA had the lockout, he was in Washington D.C. and he would come up to the University of Maryland and play with me every day and for some reason we would always wind up on the same team. Every time I see him I say, 'Remember how we used to run it?', but it's going to be a tough decision for him. I would love to play with a guy like CWebb because he's like me, he likes to get up and down the court and he doesn't take any nonsense."

Francis handled himself extremely well in that interview. I mean very well.

RunninRaven -- thanks for the scoop... Robert -- thanks for the link...

That was an excellent interview. He sounded like a veteran instead of a second year player, especially the way he wasn't afraid to let his feelings be known about how some of the young players aren't giving proper respect for the game.

With his athletic ability, natural instincts, and his mental outlook on the NBA, his potential is unlimited.

BTW - That story of the FSU flag on his locker was humorous. I wonder who did it.

one of Francis comments was that he thought Mo was basicaly a 3 playing the 4 spot. Does anyone else feel like this? I always considered Mo too big to go out on the 3's in this league. Could he be an effective 3?

Also it was great to hear that Francis is already trying to recruit Webber for Houston. Man would it be great to have that kind of Dominant inside presence with Steve and Cat in the backcourt.

I have alway's hated Rome, but with his positive comments on Steve he definitely gained some points with me [IMG]

Just listened to it, thanks to Robert Snyder for mentioning that the interview starts from the 2.14 mark. Great interview I think, Steve was matured in his answering, and seemed to be more like a 5-6 year player than a 2nd yr player.

I don't think there is any way that Mo could be a decent 3 in this league. He has a good outside shot, and handles the ball well for his size, but he is just too big and slow for that position.

I think Steve just made this comment because, for a PF, Mo has unusual range and smoothness on his shot, and he doesn't post up as much as other offensive minded PFs.

I too picked up on that comment. I was wondering the same thing. Mo is too slow, but maybe he was saying more that Mo is a 3 in a 4 body. Kinda like me being a C in a PG body! Anyway, I had no idea that CWebb hooked up with Steve during the lockout. That is a definite plus if all the chips fall into place, as it seems they already have built a relationship....on the court.

I thought he just meant that Mo has the skills of a 3 and he plays the 4, that is fairly rare.

It's too bad he doesn't have the skills of a 4 in the body of a 4, 'cause we could use one of those.
