I don't understand how someone who is a rockets fan can make fun of steve and his style of play, he is playin his heart out and trying to lead this team the best he can, when he does well, you guys are loving him but when he shoots 1 for 7 in a quarter, " doesnt know what he is doing out there" , and i hate when you say that he should move to the 2, if we move him to the 2 and trade his best freind mobley, francis will not re-sign with the rocks... we have an all-star point guard on this team and everyone wants to see him change positions. i would love to see all of the francis haters go through one week of nba ball. and then talk badly about franchise's play. you have no idea what goes on in a locker room so you don't know if rudy t told him to lose this game, please stop hatin on the rockets best player, it just makes no sense.

Iverson said the same thing about playing the 2, and now look at him.

I think there is plenty of blame to go around on this team for this season.

Yes even the "franchise". Doesn't mean that he can't improve, but there are still quite a few things that he needs to work on to be a stud player. And yes some of those things are pg duties.

And as far as Rudy telling Steve to miss shots.

Puh-leeze. Rudy can come up with more creative ways of tanking than that.

GrEgOnOmIcS i agree with you completly. Francis plays his teal of, he is a great player and a great worker.

i still think iverson is overrated. if Francis took as many shots as iverson does he would score 30 point per game. Look at Iversons FG% it is pathetic. so i'll take francis as a point guard over Iverson as SG. Iverson is not a MVP caliber player. Ok he won it once, But Pippen got named one of the 50 greatest players ever, and trhat is stupid too.

STEVE FRANCIS IS MY FAVORITE NBA PLAYER

but i've said the following things about him here:

    1. he's not a playmaker, he's a scorer...he's playing out of position

    2. if he's more committed to having his "best friend" play with him than he is to winning rings, i'd rather he play elsewhere

    3. his intensity on the offensive end is great...he loves to score!! his defensive intensity leaves something to be desired

    4. he has not yet attained a real good court sense...another reason i say he's playing out of position.

    5. he is not great at closing out games...in fact, he's not even good at it.

I personally like the guy...I just think he needs to really commit to playing some defense and I think he's not much of a playmaker. I'd love to keep him in a role that would feature his scoring abilities better.

Had Iverson stayed at pg with the talent they had, they would be a beast right now. I never did understand what was wrong with 23pts 7 asst and 44% from the field Iverson was getting every night. I don't know what management can look at a player that comes out in 95,96, then 97 Stack,Iverson,Thomas and by 98 1/2-99 you trade Stack and Thomas because you didn' think it would work. Thats just as bad if not worse than the Mavs breaking up the 3 J's after 1 full yr together. Put Stack,Iverson, and Thomas back on that team, and you would have the best team in the east, period. With that being said, I don't think it helps Steve's understanding or developement of the pg spot when he plays 2 along side Moochie Norris. I can maybe see getting more motion into the scheme and him not having to create everything by himself which leads to to's, but to have a backup run the offense while your all star waits on a kick out or something is not good. Steve should be taught how to use a pick, how far to penetrate, and how to run a fast break because its pretty clear he really doesn't know how. Its not a slap in the face to him, its just more about teaching now with younger players. They don't come into the league ready like they did 10-15 yrs ago, at least not most of them.

I've got an idea that works for both Cat and the Franchise. Why not go into the permanent 3 gaurd offense? We can put Steve at the 2, Cat at the 3, and do a draft day trade to get a more 'true' PG like Jason Williams. Its not like Cat or Steve can play D anyways, so they might as well be forced to gaurd bigger guys where they can at least have a quickness advantage. Of course to do this we'd need a beefier EG and a rebounding widebody C (Ben Wallace please stand up). But it will never happen because no coach has the balls to put Cat at the 3 against starting SF's.

that might actually work if we got a much better center, griffin beefed up, and we got a realllly good defesive SF to come off the bench to guard the opposing 3 if he is tearin up cat

basically we need a defensive specialist off the bench at the 3

A Rockets fan...was a season ticket holder for years...was there at both championships...have my 2 year old son clad in Rockets/Astros/Texans clothing non-stop...i'm just a Houston sports fan...slap the word Houston on it and I'll root for it. But I do try to be moderately objective, even with my favorite team. And Francis is my favorite player in the league right now, mostly because he seems to me to be a good person...and I know he's trying hard (I just wish he'd assert more energy on the defensive end!)
