Anyone see it? He took 4 steps prior jumping, palmed the ball, bounced it off the floor, caught it in the air for the slam. Surprisingly, the refs didn't call anything. I wish they would have so players like that could learn.
Ya he definately traveled and palmed the ball. larry brown went nuts. i think the refs have never seen a play quite like it so they didn't know what to call.
Good idea. Then we can also have Joe Buck lecture him as to how disgusting he is, and then James Brown and Howie Long and Terry Bradshaw can take turns denouncing him. THanks for the Bronze medal, Francis.
Yeah, I saw it on sportscenter. Sportscenter slowed it down and counted the steps in slow motion. They counted four steps starting a little past the half court line where he recieved the pass in stride, where he dribbled one time to the free throw line, then he palmed the ball and bounced it to the rim, then dunked it. It was sick, just not legal. At least not in a game, it would have been okay in a dunk contest
while he took a ridiculous amount of steps before the dunk, can you really get called for palming on your first dribble? i mean everyone catches and turns it over to start dribbling, you just can't do it between dribbles, but since francis smartly only dribbled once between halfcourt and the basket it can't be palming. and i guess if you bounce it and go catch it it can't be a self pass since it was technically off a dribble. an entirely illegal but awesome play. the best was that detroit apparently got called for traveling just a little while after on some minor shuffle of the feet or something and brown went even crazier.
remember that little pass to himself steve did before dunks every now and then? (like twice). it was like a mini-self ally-oop but i always figured it should have been traveling the refs just never called it.
You forgot to continue that sentence with "...for the playground." I really wonder which superstars would be superstars and which other players would elevate their games if the league cracked down on traveling and palming/carrying the ball.
If anyone has ESPN, they have been showing it all morning on SC. I dont know what the officials were thinking. How exactly does a player, with the ball, go from halfcourt, to dunking the ball, without taking a single dribble?
Francis continues to be all flash and no substance. Big deal, he dunked a basketball, it's only 2 points. The Magic lost the game. I thought the object was to win games?
This highlights everything that's wrong with Stevie Franchise. I'm glad he's on another team so I can watch these plays -- but not on oursl
I was watching the game and saw the dunk live. I was floored. It was hilarious! In "real time" speed the traveling only looked minor. But when they showed it on slow-mo replay? Hilaious! He should have gotten a jaywalking ticket for that one! Francis really played well in the second half of that game and almost won it for the Magic.
Exactly and agree with what Cesar said. Always amazes me at how many people here go on and on about that stuff. Makes me think they would rather watch the "And One" or whatever the hell the name of that playground team is other than the Rockets.
Wow it's only a dunk thread and the haters STILL gotta come out. It was a nice dunk, can he at least have SOME credit around here!? And if the object of the game is simply wins, should we really give T-Mac credit for last year's scoring title even though he slacked off, didn't care about the team and led them to 19 straight losses in the process?
