What he should have said was, "I'm gonna get almost the exact same line as Cassell so that we cancel each other out and then rely on Cat and Shandon to cancel out Big Dog and Jesus and then hope that Cato can outplay Tim Thomas so that we can win the game."
At least, that seemed to be his gameplan.

    I know watcha mean rimby.

I expected either mad D or O from Francis, but it appeared as if it was just an average game.

Maybe Francis hit him in the balls or sumthin.

    maybe that was his revenge.

Steve should have talked with his game and not his mouth. Seems the Chuckster has been a bad influence on him in that area....

Well, they were trapping Stevie as soon as he crossed midcourt. Unless you want him to to try and beat a double team every time, there's not a whole lot more that he could have done.

Steve played a good game, my intent was not to bash him. I just thought it was funny that he and Cassel had almost identical numbers.

Although I love Stevies game I hope he learned a lesson:

If you're going to talk the talk you've got to walk the walk.

It is great that he has so much potential but to call out Sam Cassel before the game was in poor taste. Talk all you want during the game to the opponent but to tell the press you are going to light someone up is not very intelligent, IMO.

Many great players have predicted wins for their teams, but I don't recall many superstars saying they personally will light up their opponent.

I just hope Stevie doesn't focus on himseld (ala Iverson) and forget the other 4 guys.

Reminds me of when Jerry Stackhouse, as a rookie, said he couldn't believe how easy it was to play in this league. He had played in about 15-20 games and was averaging about 20 pts a game. The next game was against the Bulls. Jordan was foaming at the mouth after hearing those comments. Stackhouse finished with about 4 points and Jordan scorched him for almost 50.

Let me see if I've got this right:

The kid[Francis] that has been in the league for 2/3 of a year and on a losing lottery team.

The experenced 2 guard playing point[Cossell] that has been in the league for 5? years and really needs the game to get in the play-offs.

They played to a stand-off: geee wonder who the winner is in that???

For those of you knocking Francis' comments about he was going to "kill Cassell", you may want to consider the 2 are good friends. They've gone at it one-on-one in the off-season and talk smack at each other all the time. It's a friendly rivalry, not one where Steve was being an "idiot" by trying to ridicule an opponent.
